The charge is very serious, too.

And this move on the part of the police was anticipated:

Solidarity with the arrestee - hopefully they won't get any of the others and make them face equally ridiculous charges...

Important

Readers and all those who have been involved in any political actions such as demonstrations in the last few months, or further back, should note that it is an increasingly used police tactic to wait until a while after an event before making arrests of those recorded as being involved previously. This makes it very easy for the cops to both make arrests and avoid reactions and to round people up when their memories are fading of events they have taken place in. If you have been involved in the Israeli tourism office action mentioned or any other (particularly Mayday and Anti-Jubillee protests) then you will be a target for state repression and intimidation and it is almost certain that you will have done nothing technically illegal. Therefore, you are advised to know the details of a solicitor, the contact details of organisations who may defend you and not to panic and try and explain yourself out of situations to the cops; they want you to do so and will take advantage of any incoherencies in your statements and anything else which you may unintentionally do to incriminate yourself.

If you see your picture or details on TV or in a paper and it appears that the police want to find you –it's likely this will happen a while after an event, as mentioned previously–, then an effective tactic will be to get in touch with a solicitor and get them to take you to the cops and make it clear that you've done nothing and that if they try anything on you you're gonna file a suit or two. Get ahead of the game and you can avoid trouble later; the state will have no legal pretext for arresting you and are likely to either release you without charge or fabricate evidence. Therefore, you're very strongly advised not to run and hide or to try anything fancy and out-talk the state– do what they don't want you to do and make it clear that if they want to f*** with you they'll be disappointed.
