Candidate Notice 2002 Civic Election
Re Election Signs & Advertising

The right to place election signage on public property flows from the fundamental right to freedom of expression that is guaranteed by the Charter.
City crews will not impound signs until the candidate is notified to relocate the sign within 24 hours. If there is an immediate safety concern we will take the signs down and then contact the campaign office or candidate to relocate them.
During the Civic Election campaign candidates may choose to place posters on public property such as lampposts, telephone poles, ect. The city will not remove these signs. Robert G. Woodland Chief Election Officer.
This is the guts of the notice we received as candidates upon our nomination. I state that clearly the Victoria police have ignored this ruling from city hall and have been continually removing my signs .I have notified Rob Woodland and registered my complaint. As the Victoria and Canadian public know I was charged with putting a sign in paint on city owned Memorial Arena .I only used paint after police illegally took my signs,This building is public property and clearly my putting a sign on this WAR MEMORIAL, about to be demolished, was not an illegal act. I acted with permission from City Hall re this notice. Not only was I arrested, my head was pushed into the pavement with that asshole cops whole weight . Cops who didn’t give a care for my rights. I had Candidates notice and permission to place signs on public property in my pocket. Their were many witnesses, also video, which police have seized. Ron who witnessed this yelled at police to stop. He also was arrested and charged with a whole bunch of bullshit and called scum for standing up to them. His election signs were also taken down and confiscated. I will send the final authority on you asshole policeman Kowan and Bond. We were both taken to the sub human dungeon below police station and Ron was kept for 2 days, not allowed to call family, and I was kept for 4 days, humble right through REMEMBRANCE DAY. I was not allowed out of this 6 by 9 room from Sat. till Tues. I am still sick from this hee hole experience and for a Christian Scientist to say he is sick is a call for help. I am really upset, fucking furious, yet humble and I really want to have this matter settled with the media and with the Victoria Police. C.H. news refuses to take the story to the public nor to show the footage we have of police taking our signs down.Nor will that phony news authority cfax tell the truth. This is the democratic? Election of your government people. I could be elected Mayor .Ron should be.Please pay attention to what is happening right here in sleepy old Victoria
Allan Lowe is Chairman Lowe of the Victoria police board. Why is he not standing up for our democratic rights?
Ron is not allowed to associate with me outside of the house where we both live .This is insane.
. I am 59 years old; I’m too old for this.
Ron is not allowed to put signs up in Victoria. This election is a fraud. All candidates should unite in stopping this injustice and to insure a fair election.
Ron is in court Monday morning. Reach me at 382-1921 David Shebib

Why not put this up in the center feature column? Remember the government make the laws and if we really want change vote.
yes I will submit to an edit if any part of this is offensive
