i am disheartened to see no offers on the board at this point, sometimes i get to wondering ,why fight for a better world if we lack the unity or the basic desire to assist one another where we can .

I am doing my bit unselfishly to fight for this better world we are all out there fighting for , yet it seems whenever i need something in return , i come across a stone wall ,ego ,elitism and general exclusion from certain heirarchial groups .

Fuck that shit , the buck stops here , now i need some help , not for myself but in the continuing struggle ,now please do me a favour and get off your arse and give me a hand so i can sort this screening project out and take the message to the people .

as a person sometimes involved in video I'm interested in your request, and may be able to point you towards people who can help, but not before suggesting why you've not found help so far.

first, you seem to have posted your angry comment only 12 hours after the initial post; how many of the people you seek do you expect to be reading indymedia between midnight friday and midday saturday? and of those reading here after noon on saturday, how many are going to want to help out and work with someone on such a short tether, let alone someone with maybe a bit of a prejudice about media people?

second, you say: "give me a little assistance in obtaining relevant footage , ie war footage, destruction, human rights atrocities ,animal rights atrocities, protest videos ,police brutality ,you know the sort of stuff i need ." when the truth is that we don't know what you need, or really why you say you need it.

how do we know 1, who you are, and 2, what exactly you intend to do with this apparently random collection of footage?

you may or may not be aware of long standing resentments between some activists and media organisations like undercurrents, with the former accusing the latter of using and sharing footage of actions without the permission of the people featured, and without ensuring that any financial benefits resulting go back to the campaigns concerned.

the latter, like many other small media organisations, keep an archive which can be used in important, well thought out documentaries etc, and the financial returns from the more commercial of these helps them survive and work (cameras, microphones, tapes, edit equipment, studio space, phone, electricity, transport, etc etc etc do add up, you can't do it on the dole...). by virtue of being politically committed, such groups tend to lack the resources or confidence to make all their expensively, sensitively and sometimes dangerously gathered footage available free to any comer, even were it politically advisable, which is most certainly is not.

finally, with all that said,
* have you got a clear proposal setting out who you are, what exactly you want to do with the footage you seek and why?
* have you offered to cover the costs of whoever tries to help you out?
* have you made the time to think through who and what campaigns you really want to work with, and approach them in a well-prepared and patient manner?
* have you read the video activists' handbook?
* have you contacted undercurrents training facility in swansea?
* have you approached the various media groups listed in schnews yellow pages?
* have you talked to indymedia video people?
* etc etc etc
basically, if you can take the time to think what you really want to do and to identify and understand the situation of the people whose help you need, you might not get so het up, and might make the something good you seek.

oops sorry , what can i say , i was an obnoxious twat , mainly due to sleep deprivation and a family bereavement, but it's no excuse , i hold my hands up . a full and unequivocable apology is brokered.

i will attempt to outline in brief , a response to the questions you've raised .

Firstly , pertaining to my identity , i did perform recently in september at an event , jointly hosted by indymedia , RTS and other associated groups and individuals. i have posted on indymedia for a couple of years now too as well as met individual indymedia collective members at events such as the dsei fiesta and such like (do a search on my name in indymedia, that'll give you an idea where i'm coming from )

As To my integrity , i'm not a spy , stop being paranoid , your worse than me :-)

in relation to my intentions with footage , my first intention is simply to acquire the footage then write lyrical political rhymes to complement them ,(i would be prepared to come and work with various groups and go over footage with them and give them use of any lyrics they liked , relevant to their campaign , without fees or royalties of any kind) i will then be working with Cubase and various plug ins to Vocode the lyrics mix in the video in time and write them in to various trance tracks in conjunction with other musicians and creative individuals who are of the highest integrity.

It is then my intention to use the material at underground free parties , currently we are trying to build up a rig which will be multi faceted with live pa , computer dj's , conventional vinyl dj's and visual projections. although i won't limit myself exclusively to doing this and would welcome the opportunity to do a set at politically orientated free parties in conjunction with various subversive groups and will doubtless line that up in the coming future (although it is preaching to the converted , as opposed to raising the awareness of the ill informed .)

relative to your point raised concerning covering of costs , everything i need to do is mainly computer orientated , i have a decent spec laptop with networking cards that i can lug around with me to collect the footage , so in that respect it would keep any cost to a bare minimum , well except to myself , but i will reimburse any outlay encumbered by any individual or group willing to help out , with a beer and a smoke on top as an act of common decency and through a sense of indebtedness.

with regard to the point raised concerning which particular groups i am prepared to work with or promote propoganda and imagery etc , it is probably wiser if i tell you the type of groups i don't want to work with .

the type of groups i will point blank refuse to work with are reactive as opposed to pro active , people like SW SWP GR or any group affiliated or connected to the whitehall mandarins or working to a prescribed agenda whose sole influence is to divert attention from the real causes and control the flow of information available to its members ,thus keep their focus on issues within the confines of the general public information spectrum. these type of groups and sub groups and individuals as far as i am concerned are about as genuine as a pair of tommy hilfiger jeans for a fiver on camden market and i'll have nowt to do with any of them.(that said , i have earmarked over the years specific groups that i both admire and respect for their efforts in the face of adversity and would gladly dedicate a significant amount of personal time towards assisting those groups.

I Read the video activist handbook , not in a position really to utilise it , no dv cam.
but must agree as a technical reference and general guide it was pretty spot on ,
again i did talk to an indymedia director at the dsei event , also i would like to spend some time with undercurrents working on projects in order to gain further technical experience with modern media , i'll have a nose through schnews yellow pages .

i do understand the arguement presented by various active individuals , in relation to video footage pics etc , but i would always send a copy of anything relevant to a particular groups for final approval before broadcast
in relation to whether i've taken the time to think what i really want to do , this has been coming for years , i am sick fed up of the people who control us , i am sick to bloody death of the iniquities of domestic and overseas policies by western imperialists and downright double standards, lies ,manipulation ,propoganda etc etc ,

i won't lie down no more and just accept that , i have to utilise the skills i already have or am currently learning to get the message to the people and bolster the numbers of resistant.
