A Monument Of Devotion To The People And The Revolution In The Mountains
The Call Of Liberation: Celalettin Ali Guler

For roughly the past two months, the oligarchy has been carrying out extensive operations in Tokat. In the course of recent operations directed entirely against our guerrilla unit, at 2 pm on December 28 the oligarchys military units encountered one of our shelters. In due course our guerrillas noticed the enemy and opened fire first, thus preventing encirclement. The first clash lasted about half an hour. As our guerrillas withdrew from the area, they clashed with the enemy on three further occasions at different places. In the fourth clash, at about 4 pm, one of our commanders, our comrade Celalettin Ali Guler, who was fighting in the forefront, was martyred. The oligarchy has been concentrating special teams and commando units in the area and its attacks aimed at destroying the guerrillas or preventing them from moving have been going on for a very long time. Along with the military attacks on the guerrillas, repression directed the people as well as psychological warfare through broadcasts on local radio have been the methods they employed, and in Tokat they have been a part of everyday life for years. But the oligarchy never can save itself from the danger that has existed in the mountains of our country for decades past. Because the danger for the oligarchy consists of the fighters in the mountains who are part of the hope and liberation for our people.

In the recent clashes in Tokat the oligarchy immediately told the press and TV that it had killed a DHKP-C member, but it did not mention its own dead and wounded in the fighting. The guerrillas fought with the oligarchys soldiers at close range. Our guerrillas saw a number of the soldiers fall and heard some of them crying out that they had been wounded. The oligarchy must make known all information relating to the clashes.

For 25 years without interruption Guler was a man with a cause,

the cause of devotion to the people and the revolution,

he will live on as a monument of uninterupted revolutionism

in the liberation struggle of our people in the mountains and the cities!

In the 25 years since 1977, Ali Guler was never outside the struggle or the organisation.

Before the September 12 (1980) military coup, he was an anti-fascist militant.

In the September 12 years he was a captive and resister,

In the 1990s he was one of the organisers of our upsurge,

In the second half of the 1990s he was a fighter in the mountains with a

gun in his hand...

In all these years, in different areas of struggle, amid torture and imprisonment, he never for a moment lost faith, his mind was never gripped by fear or tiredness, he continually consolidated his beliefs, and his enthusiasm for the revolution continually grew. Celalettin Ali Guler was born in Istanbul in 1960. His family are Alevis of Turkish nationality. His family were workers and he worked as a child. While still at school he worked in a grocery shop. During the secondary school years he got to know the revolutionary movement and started to take up his place in the struggle.

He was in our ranks from the moment he joined our struggle in 1977.

He was imprisoned for the first time in March 1980. He was in prison until June 1987. After he was imprisoned for seven years, he was outside prison for two and a half months and then was inprisoned for a further nine months. After leaving prison in April 1988 he took up duties in various areas for four years. In the years of our Upsurge he had the post of Responsible Political Official for the Aegean Region. While at his post he was imprisoned in April 1992.

His passion for freedom was a passion for the struggle!

Again he resisted in captivity. He was a member of the committee for organizing the Fronts prisoners in Buca Prison. He learned, he taught and continued to develop himself. There was not a classic Marxist-Leninist text that he did not read. He read in order to raise higher the struggle outside. And while he learned, his passion for freedom grew.

He was one of those who created the freedom action at Buca.

On July 17, 1995 at Buca Prison, four Front supporters carried out a freedom action and escaped from prison, and one of them was Celalettin Ali Guler. For him, the organisation and the struggle were essential, his passion for freedom was his passion for the struggle. From this point onwards he was in the mountains. He did whatever was necessary for the movement, he rushed to work with the same enthusiasm and enjoyment, whether it was working as an ordinary labourer or as someone whose duties lay in the mountains.

He represented the personality of someone who existed for the struggle and grew with the struggle!

For 25 years, he had no personal wishes or concerns. His passion and enthusiasm for the struggle continued. He was someone who did not think, even for a moment, of a life outside the struggle. For our comrade, the Party represented the sum total of the highest values, as he said in a written statement. And for this reason, he regarded every form of struggle in this way: “Up to this day I have followed the will of my Party, with all I have and without any conditions. From this point on, whether I am to die or to remain, my behaviour will conform to this.”

He was one of those skilled at the art of changing society.

The basis of his uninterrupted revolutionism was absolute belief and great identification with the struggle. He took on all duties in such a way as to ensure their success. What nourished his belief and enthusiasm was his identification with the revolution. This is what he wrote:

“In the beginning what affected me was what attitude to take in order to confront the fascist attacks, so I became a revolutionary and joined the ranks of the movement. But as the process advanced I saw that it was not limited to what attitude to take to the fascists, and that it was necessary to think more broadly. For this reason I also accepted that life should be formed by revolutionism. And I continued in this way up to today. Considering that revolutionism was about the art of changing society and nature, I saw that I too had a part to play in this, and the greatest happiness in my view was to fight for the happiness of our people, adding myself to this fight as one adds a brick and plasters on a bit of mortar.”

He fought with this high level of identification and belief, and with the great happiness of this he fell a martyr.

He left behind a life that will be a model for all of our people who want to change this system, all our comrades and all our supporters.
