Last year there was a massive demonstration at the Woomera Immigration Detention Facility in Australia, where the fences were ripped down and some refugees escaped. In the spirit of those actions, there is a convergence on Baxter Immigration Detention Facility (also in Australia) over the Easter weekend, 18-21 April 2003.

Join with the detainees inside Baxter in struggling for their freedom - and for our own. Baxter 2003 will be part protest, part liberation camp, and a powerful convergence of those who seek to put an end to Australia's racist and xenophobic policies. The protest will include a myriad of actions and workshops, in solidarity with the detainees across Australia and their struggle for freedom. These camps are run by Group4, who also run many prisons and centres in the UK and across the world. It would be great if there were solidarity actions across the world that same weekend in support of all those imprisoned for fleeing their homeland.
