Turn Picadilly into a Totally Autonomous Zone on the 15th

Turn Picadilly into a Totally Autonomous Zone on the 15th

In conjunction with the ARROW sit down protest in Picadilly on the
15th, it would be nice if we turned Picadilly into our own no-war
space. It would be nice if people brought lots of nice things to
decorate the area. Not that I am advocating anyone damage anything
but the idea that lots of people bringing lots of paint and
decorating the area with no-war logos, little murals with painted
flowers, lots of red paint to represent innocent civilian blood, etc
I thought is a nice idea.

Just a thought.

pots n' pans

...catapults are usually helpful for reaching elevated digital displays (maybe?)

but with regards to sit-down maybe we should be encouraging everyone to bring pots and pans (NB. see argentina - people's actions) this could maybe help in raisng awareness of the connection between WAR and the ne0-liberalist agenda / washington concensus...

WAR is the OPIUM of the NEO-LIBERALIST agenda?

let's make some noise!

(it brought down the walls of Jericho, ce n'est pas?)

peace!

We could also have an open speakers platform!

07.02.2003 19:53

How about having an open speakers platform where anarchists and others who wont be speaking at the main rally can get up and speak out against this war. This will also attract the attention of passersby, tourists and shoppers who might stop and listen to what we have got to say. The speakers could stand on the steps of the Eros Statue.

Turn Piccadilly into an Autonomous Riot Zone

08.02.2003 11:49

Unfortunately we have got wind of a plan by agents provocateurs to disrupt the Piccadilly sit-in. These guys will be dressed in black and may arrive either on foot or in white Mercedes vans. Their basic idea is to "prevent a breach of the peace" by smashing you in the face with their fists or kicking you in the nuts with their fascist bootboy footwear. Either way it is going to hurt a great deal. No pain, no gain, that's what I say. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!

tactics

08.02.2003 12:36

the idea with the sit down is that its non violent. its very hard for the police to disperse because it is non violent . I've seen agent provocateurs before at mayday and RTS parties, and they try to get pissed anarchokiddies to charge at the police, who then attack the peaceful majority with their sticks and gas. The sit down is a potent bridge between organised marches and autonomous direct action, but it would probably not be helped by unnecessary provocation of police violence. they would just teargas everyone or send in horses.
I'm not against more "active " protest, but a riot is not planned or desirable (in Picadilly at least)

Um. kyro i think...

..pigwatch was being bitterly ironic/cynical.

Riots/serious public order situations are rarely 'planned' by anyone other than the police themselves!

Pissed anarchokiddies don't need agent provocateurs to get them to take the piss out of cops either. they can manage that themselves. i don't think they are much threat to the state, and if you swallow the lie that a 'small minority of individuals' are responsible for the majority of the crowd getting twatted, then sheez.

If the cops have been told to knock skulls to please their political masters, it doesn't matter if people are 'violent' (tssk! media shit) or 'not violent'.

-the phrase 'agent provocateur'- how this is used against anyone whose actions/mentality you dislike with!
Mayday? RTS? give us a break. fuck all has happened for years. stagnant as fuck.

IMHO though i don't see piccadilly or the rest of the day being particulary 'violent'- whatever that means.

-the phrase 'agent provocateur'- how this is used against anyone whose actions you disagree with!

How many times must we get beaten my cops before we realise they don't give a shit?

We will all most likely just come home, after having done fuck all to stop the war. watch the 5mins on the news- if you have a telly or a home- then forget about it/ get indignant/ disallusioned- mouth slogans. go to bed.

ahh forgetaboutit. see you there.
