Blairs logic

15.02.2003 23:51

Blair said that no matter how many people march, the number of suffering Iraqis will always exceed the number of marchers and so he is justified in going to war. Therefore, if every single person in the country was on the streets, he would STILL do want he chooses to do, all on his own. This isn't democracy. Following this logic, where is the difference between Blair and Saddam?

Blair/Saddam, a difference

16.02.2003 01:07

Heather, one big difference between Blair and Saddam is that voters have the abilty to vote in elections and unseat Mr Blair, but that's not something Saddam ever has to think about.

I mean

the intellectual difference. He believes himself to be right and ignores massive opposition. And yes, we can vote him out, but it will be too little to late for the Iraqi people if that is what we will rely on.

and..

two routes, a massive call for a referendum against war now (push the 15th forward and further destablise Blair), maybe even stand 'peace' candidates in the local elections in May to rattle them through the parliamentry route and intensify direct action - get them coming and going. I know lots of people don't agree with touching the parliamentry route but it can be useful to put the pressure on.

They choose an election when they think it is the best time for them. A referendum now will sink their war plans.
