Warmongers Attacked

Blood on their hands | 06.03.2003 08:55

In the early hours of the morning a group of people took the anti-war message to those who profit most from war. The offices of two companies central to the weapons industry, Spearhead Exhibitions Ltd and BAE Systems were drenched in blood.

Red paint was thrown inside and outside the Apex Tower, New Malden where the companies are based. The lobby was turned into a blood bath and ‘Wanted’ posters were super-glued on the windows condemning BAE Systems and Spearhead Exhibitions Ltd for war crimes with the slogan ‘Smash the Arms Trade! Smash the State!’.

A spokesperson for the group said:

"The government didn’t listen to two million people marching through the streets of London against this war. But if more and more people start taking direct action, they’ll have to take notice.

"We see our action as being part of the wider anti-capitalist movement. Profit drives the war machine and this can only be stopped through economic damage."

Mass actions not elitist actions are needed!

06.03.2003 10:42

If 5,000 people had stormed the place and cuased damage that would have been much better than a small elitist group of activists doing an action themselves.

Why wasn't something like a mass picket of this place called instead. It is mass action that counts as only mass action empowers people and strengthens the anti-capitalist movenment. The J18 action in the City of London in 1999 was a good example of this.

NOT JUST BAE

06.03.2003 11:26

BAESystems is not just about weapons.
www.baesystems.com

BAE has made many technologies that benefit a lot of people.
If its about war then lets talk about companies like Boeing? They make weapons too and no-one is targeting them?

Just remember who brought you high-tech navigation? The internet, html.

BAE just creates the technology, they are not using it?
Many companies stand to profit from war?
Think about all the toilet paper, food, clothing needed?

The only thing these idiots have done is upset British employees at that site. They are hurting their own people!!!

People should think about what they do, before they buy paint. They are just idiots looking for attention...

Call them

06.03.2003 11:39

Call Spearhead, organisers of DSEI, to ask them how they feel about dealing in weapons which are intended to cause death and injury.

The number is:

then press 2 for DSEI

who invented the internet

06.03.2003 12:31

the internet was created by the Pentagon etc, funded by US taxpayers, once it was created it was handed over to private companies to profit from, like pretty much all modern technology, publicly subsidised, privately profitable.
as for 'only hurting the workers'
shutting down auschwitz would have cost many people their jobs, from the manufacturers of xyclon through to the guards. aushcwitz slave labour made many good things for the german people. i take it bob would've opposed any action against it??

Well done to the warmonger attackers!

06.03.2003 13:40

Looks like 'Bob' has fallen for BAE's recent advertising campaign, where they tried to convince us that they're working for a safer world. Yeah right. BAE Systems is presently the world's largest arms producer, and military equipment accounts for around 75% of total sales. So I reckon they're a deserving target. Yes there are other arms companies, and I think they deserve the same treatment!

As for 'hurting the employees', they have a choice about where they work, and why is it important that they're British? Besides, if someone trashed my workplace I can't say I'd be too upset...unless I was feeling guilty about something.

Mass action is great too - Spearhead and BAE will be facing plenty of this during DSEi 2003!

Well done to the people who attacked the warmongers, perhaps some of the armchair critics would like to say what they've been doing?

Internet

06.03.2003 15:45

BTW
DARPA "invented" the internet which is a mil company so I guess bob was right.
There are a lot more technologies that the mil invented which makes our lives beter? Reason Tax payers are happy to pay for millitary advancement, then to give money to universities? And thus were there is money there is reseach and so we have technological advancement, why do you think america is the most advanced country in the world? They have the biggest military budget? Take a look at all the "advanced" countries.

internet was invented by tax payers

06.03.2003 15:57

fine a military company invented the internet, but funded by taxpayers, it could've been a toy compnay which invented it had they been given the subsidies instead.
the point is that taxpayers fund these companies and the outcome is massive profits for shareholders (welfare state for the rich) and a loada destructive weapons to be used on innocent people.
it's ironic that republicans/conservatives who always moan about big government are the biggest spenders on 'defence' which essentially means massive subsidies for their financial backers in the military tech industry...the opposite of the free trade/free market/low tax mantra that they define themselves by.

Nuts to that. If you aren't building the weapons, who the hell is?

Funny how no one in these "defence" corporations admits to working on weapons. It's a veneer of lies, right from the fact of using the word "defence" to categorize attack bombers. The people who are working on the weapons know they are doing the wrong thing, which is why they are never publically proud of it. There's always this plausible deniability about how some of the money going into "defence" has positive value in civlian life. This is a distraction. It's designed to mislead. The fact is this massacre machinery is getting built in massive quantity. We know which corporations are promoting and building it. Anyone who works positively in such a corporation is acting in complicity, even if they claim not to be building the weapons, by either enriching the company so that it can further promote weapons building, and by distracting the public in so far as that is where the weapons are being built, and that is where they must stop being built.

BTW the only thing republicans/conservatives moan about is money that is not going into their pockets. If it is going into their pockets, they don't care where it comes from, even if it is out of the mouths of the starving and a lot of people get bombed in the process. The fact that they make money out of something by definition makes it moral, righteous, and good. Just ask any apologist of capitalism.

Bush`s pre-emptive ( reading the tea bag)

07.03.2003 17:17

If george bush wishes to help the people of iraq , why does he say (along with blair)that he will use violence pre-emptively (even if not all UN members agree) ( this agreement being the basis for any UN action)when he say`s himself that acting pre-emptively is for the protection of his own peoples (and the US intrests plc) and not the iraqi people
