"I write this as a 31 year old white man. When I was 10 I was told the oil was running out, that alternative sources of energy must be found. Thankfully, I was told, we had 25 years or so before US oil supplies would begin to reach critical. 25 years to prevent aggressive US oil wars taking place. Nothing has been done to prevent this. They have done nothing because Arab lives are expendable in the eyes of US Foreign Policy. They have done nothing because they believe we are all racists now. We watch cities being burned to the ground by white men, who this time have token
black-men & women at the helm to sweeten the butchery of race war, & wars for oil.
DON'T LISTEN TO THEIR LIES ANY LONGER." James Venables.

2) OPEN PUBLIC MEETING: Thursday 27th March
TIME: 6:45-8:30pm. PLACE: St. Mary on the Quay Hall
City Centre. Colston Ave. Opposite the Cenotaph.
DIRECTIONS: CLICK BELOW
 http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?X=359000&Y=173000&scale=10000
We hold a meeting every week at the same time. This week it is expected that there will be a great many people who want to be present to discuss, & listen to, opinions on the way forward from here. We do not vote at these meetings, as we are not here to force people to adhere to a consensus view. This meeting functions as a way of informing each other of our intentions, of finding people who wish to work together on projects, & as a venue where large scale Bristol Demonstrations are agreed & planned.
PLEASE COME ALONG TO GIVE YOUR INPUT.

3) ANTI NAZI LEAGUE PUBLIC MEETING: Friday 28th March
TIME: 7:30pm. PLACE: St. Mary On The Quay Hall.
City Centre. Colston Ave. Opposite the Cenotaph.
DIRECTIONS: CLICK BELOW
 http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?X=359000&Y=173000&scale=10000
This is not a Bristol-Stop-The-War event, but the issue at hand is of sufficient concern for this event to be advertised in our updates.
*******************************
'Don't Vote Nazi' Campaign Launch. The BNP have stated they intend to stand candidates in the Bristol May Elections. A broad campaign uniting all opposed to groups such as the BNP will send a message of opposition across the country, & prevent them establishing a presence in our area.
PLEASE COME ALONG TO FIND OUT HOW YOU CAN HELP.

4) CRITICAL MASS DEMONSTRATION : Saturday 29th March
TIME: 12:00noon. PLACE: Outside Arnolfini Pub. Dockside.
At the end of Narrow Quay & Prince St. City Centre.
DIRECTIONS: CLICK BELOW
 http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?X=358500&Y=172500&scale=10000
The aim of this Critical Mass Demo is two-fold. One is to draw attention to the link between wars for oil, & car dependency, so please bring your bikes, rollerskates, skateboards, or just yourself. The other aim is to SHUT DOWN THE CITY CENTRE in opposition to the brutal realities of oil wars & economic warfare. We'll be moving through the City Centre, Broadmead Roundabout, then back up to the top of Park St, & back down to the Vigil. We'll be stopping traffic as we go so as to underline the link between wars for oil & our own unsustainable lifestyles.
PLEASE MAKE YOUR OWN LEAFLETS & DISTRIBUTE

5) CRITICAL MASS BENEFIT GIG : SAT 29th MARCH
TIME: 8:00pm-1:00am. TAX: £3.00 on the door.
PLACE: Bristol County Sports Club. 40 Colston St.
(Top of Christmas Steps. City Centre)
DIRECTIONS: CLICK BELOW
 http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?X=358500&Y=173000&scale=10000
LINE UP: Tyco, Super8 & Cremo (Indie & Punk Rock)
Please come along for a night of all live music, which will follow on from the Critical Mass Demonstration earlier in the day. Our last gig at the County Sports club attracted 200+ people. Although this has been called at short notice we hope you'll all help out be spreading the word.
THE WAR DOESN'T STOP US HAVING FUN!

7) QUOTE FROM THE ECOLOGIST MAGAZINE: April 2003 Edition
This month's edition focuses on our addiction to oil, & the wars which have been fought & manufactured in the name of oil.
For the online March edition of the Ecologist:  http://www.theecologist.org/
THE US QUEST FOR OIL: STRENGTHENING AL-QAEDA
"The massive presence of US forces in Saudi Arabia after the 1991 Gullf War helped give rise to Al-Qaeda. Bin Laden was outraged at the sight of thousands of 'infidels' stationed on Islam's holy soil, & accused the US of forcibly keeping the oil barrel price down & 'the biggest oil theft in history'.
Many Middle East experts fear a war in Iraq could lead to the very regional instability it is purported to prevent. Few Arabs in Iraq's neighbouring countries like the dictator in Baghdad, but most would resent US military action as yet another attack on Muslims & an Imperialist bid to control the region's oil reserves. Furious at their own despotic leader's co-operation with the US, radical Islamic groups & the Arab populations of Egypt, Jordan & Saudi Arabia could rise in revolt, overthrow their regimes & stop the flow of oil to the west.
A war against a Muslim country would further fill the ranks of Al-Qaeda in the region. In February a tape (widely believed to be authentic) was released in which Bin Laden
appeared to call upon 'his brothers' to defend Iraq. In southern Afghanistan Al-Qaeda & Taliban fighters are already joining forces with warlord Gulbuddin Hekmatyar & his Mujaheddin. They have repeatedly engaged US forces in intense fighting. To do so, they cross the border from their hiding places in Pakistan's Pashtun tribal areas,
where elections recently swept Taliban style Islamists to power.
Anti-Americanism in the region has reached unprecedented & explosive levels. By going to war, Bush risks seeing his formal allies of Pakistan & Afghanistan blow up in his face." Ecologist. April 2003
