Smash the place up!

27.03.2003 22:39

The Stop The War Coalition has called for another tedious march from A to B ending in a rally in Hyde Park, I sent them an email today to say that we have been there before 3 times in fact, now is the time for something different, we should march on Grosvenor Square and if necessary storm that symbol of American Imperialism - The American Embassy and smash the place up.

If you agree with me, contact The Stop The War Coalition and tell them that their proposed demos are pathetic and docile and we need more aggressive action if we are to stop this war.

agent provocateur

28.03.2003 10:05

anyone reading stuey's comment should consider that in previous anti-war protest, agent-provocateur's have been used to stir up violent protest and discredit the movement.

btw - "ap's" -i mean troublemakers, not the saucy knickers shop!

time for a riot! haha

28.03.2003 12:23

blair wants us to march around peacefully. the police have been given explicit instruction to keep arrests of anti-war protestors and activists to a minimum. this is to limit damage to the notion that the country is behind blair.

hence, the need to step up action.

the last thing blair wants right now is a riot on his hands. sure, i'm not advocating a riot, but I agree with the original poster, its time for some real marching, some real demonstrations. not going to some park to listen to have-beens and wanna-bees (like that bitch from the NUS who supports the war, but was forced to give a speech), or even by tony ben (geezer that he might be), who spent his life trying to improve 'parliament' - some lack of intelligence there methinks.

no, time for real action! time to shake blair's grasp of the situation. time to actually stop this war rather than bleating on about peaceful marching and petition signings and kissing labour politicians arses. fuck em! the only people who can stop the war is us, and we need to do it through effective action, not boring inaction.

Just get on with it then

If you people are so keen on your 'real' action instead of going on marches why dont you stop moaning and just get on with it? Most of the millions that the StW coalition has mobilised will not want to engage in smashing up anything. It is up to you as the brave vanguard to go out and save us all.

Chris

Half-right..

I agree with the original post to the extent that I was dismayed to find that the M22 march simply followed the usual route to a rally, After all the 'on the day war starts, stop everything!' rhetoric the STWC have put about, it's a shame that this protest wasn't used to disrupt normal life in London for the day.

Having said that, a national group like STWC probably isn't much good for organising direct action, since it tends to involve a certain element of surprise and speed. So support the STWC doing what they can do (demonstrating the depth and breadth of public feeling in big demos) for what it's worth, and organise locally / in affinity groups to take action!

As for storming the US Embassy, not sure it will help much. You'd have to get past hundreds of tooled-up TSG - and there's a detachment of US Marines on the inside, too. Non-violent 'disruption' protests (blockades, occupations) cause more economic damage without getting yourself battered by a bunch of neurotically inadequate jumpsuit-wearing apes. Not every time, anyway.

P.S. Krop - leave off Tony Benn! He's a defender of democracy at all levels (not just Parliament, by any means). I imagine his conception of democracy differs from yours - and mine, for that matter - a fair bit, but it's a dangerous tendency to start saying that everyone who disagrees with you must be suffering from a 'lack of intelligence'..
