Demonstrators,Shame on you!

Simon Willace | 03.04.2003 01:48

What is the point of demonstrating against war?

What is the point of demonstrating against war when you offer no alternatives?. All your effort is for nothing it may make you feel good but lets face it who cares about you?,( if you were demonstrating againt Hussein in Iraq at least he would have your tounges cut out, that's some kind of recognition at least) your government ignores you and because of it youre democracy is a sham.
Offer alternatives, this is not the last war. It is one of the cascading wars which the west must fight to secure resorces.

Looking at the reasons why those who are involved fight and the reasons those who oppose the war remain uninvolved we can see a trend emerging.

Those on the attack

Australia supports the war for a free trade agreement.(I'm embarassed)

Spain supports because it recieves a kick back although it need not risk its forces.

England, she who ruled the waves, wants to get back in the boat.

America organised the events because it leaders are personaly relient upon oil and its country 70% economicaly dependant upon it's use.

And for the opposition

France, Germany belgium etc have either listened to their population or have other ways through established trade links with Iraq to access the oil.

(One thing still has me confused, if Germany and france are Old Europe where is the United Kingdom? is it 'New Europe' because it was invaded by the hords from the Iberian peninsular, the Germans. The spainish Romans the french and later the Indian' s and Pakistanis before it became part of the United Nations Of America. answers on a post card please).

And finally to fund defence

Iraq's wealth depends upon oil.

Common denominator Oil, did you spot it?

Without oil we will eventualy see wars about Water but lets solve one problem first shall we.

The road to peace and a better envioroment is the production of existing alternative fuel sorces, and the reserch and development of new tecnology which currently has no place in the world because oil is cheaper than life.

So while your altogether, wasting your collective breath offer the alternative!
Point out that if oil was no longer needed then Saddam would not be rich, America would not be interested and every issolated society upon this earth can just mind their own dam buisness until the water runs out.

This is a very real alternative which you can work on before you have to change the word Iraq to Iran on your plackards. That will be easy but think ahead, Syria, Korea, Yemen and Jordan are not as easy to replace.

Things will only become comparitivly peaceful after the present war and until the next, peace will never exist for long enough for us to notice. Did the Vietnam war end because of Demonstrations or because America lost?
Come to that when has America won a war? Korea? Nam? Iraq? Afghanistane? Let those who support them lose again, their not going to learn and your not going to stop them trying.

What is The coilitions suplimental agender?, instalation of democracy?
That went so well in Afghanistane!. liberation perhaps there are more Iraqi's now imprisoned than at any time since Gertrude Bell drew the boarders in 1927.
And to rid the world of a murderous dictator, one should not throw stones, western intervention has killed far more than Saddams effort to remain in power. I never heard him say the gassing of the Kurds was 'worth the price' maybe he regretted the incident but knew it would save more lives to put the kurds down than in street battles. A form of defence used by the Americans when they use the WMD against Civilians in Japan all those years ago, and for the whole sale genocide of Iraqi children, Worth the price.

Democracy is as tangerble as peace is real, each only existing briefly between battles for power.

Changing the sorce of fuel for Polotics may change the battles for power, battles will always continue for economic superiority. however democracy which requires your vote, can only change western dirrection in the next election.
Your participation and your intelegence are now required to develope a sustainable alternative to fuel and provide for that democraticaly elected party before it attains power and transforms into a dictatorship.

Thankyou for your time.

The alternative

03.04.2003 07:40

... to a war that will last 'as long as it takes' is obvious :
STOP blowing the life out of chidren and have weapons inspections for as long as it takes
STOP the blocking of food and medicines that the iraqi people have ALREADY paid for
STOP wasting my time with your narrow minded analysis.

WAR KILLS.

You are so fucking holier-than-thou! Many demonstrators are well aware of all you have said. They are demonstrating AS WELL AS voting, cycling, recycling, discussing etc. Save your criticiism for those who can’t be bothered to think beyond passively accepting the status quo

PIGginess is the common enominator

03.04.2003 10:56

Afghanistan is now now poised to pump some gas reservers through it. So it is energy policy not oil that the original article is talking about.

But the is oil the common denominator?

No? because there is no oil in North Korea, Cuba, Zimbabwe,....this list of western oppression is as long as the list of countries that are out there that are not inhabited/controlled to the full by the aggressors of the past five hundred years...whites ....I prefer to call them PIGs as it is the most widely used and globally understood word. Also I strongly believe this is the type of word that could attract attention from the PIGs who wouold be humble enouogh to rescue any bit of humaity left iin them.
There are few variations like 'pale face' this and that but those who used these words have been completely wiped oout in the millions centuries ago.

So the common denominator is PIGinness.
Energy (the cheap destructive fossill fuel vareity) is only the means to enforce the enslavement of humanity by PIGs.

To even suggest that there is real well meaning dissent/protest amongst the PIGs is an insult to humanity.

A bit like saying in Saddams's (ex-)regime there were protestors.
The good thing about PIG installed non pig regimes like the ex-Iraq situation is that atleast things were very crystal clear. The humans fight to death or flee (hmmm...only to be mistreated by the PIGs again)
PIGS!

Alternatives to war

03.04.2003 13:37

Two responses:
1) We have to keep trying to stop this war whatever happens in Iraq and we have to keep the anti-war agenda in the public eye (even if it is only pissed off commuters who can't get home who really see it...)
2) But also we DO have to provide alternatives and here they are: pull out troops, DO NOT reimpose sanctions in their former tyranny-supporting guise, lobby for the US to ratify the ICC, support Iraq through NGOs (not through its government), don't buy its oil, up aid, support and funding for Iraqi NGOs and finally EXPECT IT TO BE A LONG AND SLOW PROCESS. It will not create headlines and will not win votes, but it is the only way to finally make a differnce in the colonial/post-colonial world - allowing the people of these countries to take control of their lives. It really is the only way.

And while we are doing that

03.04.2003 18:52

We need to switch to alternative energy production, move away from fossil fuels, hence eliminating demand for oil, and hence no need to go to war, and it also curbs climate change as well! Simple! However, we need to smash the oil cartels that control the Western governments first...

Rhetoric

03.04.2003 20:58

Please please why are you avoiding the point?

Most of this planet's woes are directly due to 'white supremacy'?
Why do I not get the usual 'if not for us it will be another race' at this time? Is it because at the current time my point is very clear. No other race is so ruled by such bullies so orderly for so long!!! Shame on oyu for finding the same old excuses like fossil fuel this and that... it is true that fossil fuel fuels war and all.... but it is not the reason we suffer like this.

Even problems like fossil fuel cartels you will find that white supemacist issues holding sway...the white habitations required lots of energy and with coal minig started largescale 'white supremacy'.

Come on! First face the real issue or we will never get anywhere.

Some + some Minus

04.04.2003 02:18

From the narowness of minds to the bucket which feeds the pigs, white supremacy that's a new one so would black supremacy be an improvement?, lets forget the differencies and focus on the issues atleast we all agree on that!.

White or the varied shades, we all want the same thing! a roof over our heads and to be paid a little more than we are worth and education for our children. although in truth most of us strive for excess, that is the problem, while we strive for wealth and luxury others who we treat as inferior starve.
We cannot have everything and share.
We cannot recycle and consume.
Either we live in luxury today with war and watch the planet die or we change our values, change our ways, if we have one shred of humanity left then it is within the people who reciognise the end is already upon us.

Thankyou for your time...

Simon
