Britain admits there may be no WMD's in Iraq

Blunkett in BBC interview | 05.04.2003 18:26

British Home Secretary David Blunkett made the startling admission in a radio interview on BBC. The cracks are beginning to appear.

Britain admits there may be no WMD's in Iraq

Well into the war that was supposed to rid Iraq of its alleged stockpile of weapons of mass destruction, a senior British official admitted on Saturday that no chemical, biological or nuclear weapons of mass destruction may after all be found.

Making the startling confession in a radio interview, British Home Secretary, David Blunkett, added in the same breath that he would in any case rejoice the â??fallâ?? of Saddam Hussein and his regime â??regardless of whether any weapons of mass destruction were found in Iraq or not.

The British home secretaryâ??s confession reconfirms the worst fears of the opponents of the war that the bogey of â??weapons of mass destructionâ?? was only a ruse for the US and the British to go to war against Iraq.

The admission does certainly deal a serious blow to the moral legitimacy that the US and the British have been seeking in prosecuting the war.

Critics of the war across the world have been accusing the US and the British of aiming for regime change in Baghdad under the guise of â??unearthing and dismantling weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.â??

There have been constant accusations that the US and the British are eyeing Iraqâ??s huge oil wealth, promoting Israeli interests, and that its campaign against â??weapons of mass destructionâ?? is only a convenient cover-up.

Even countries like Germany, Russia and France had been less than impressed with the US-led war against Iraq saying all along that the task of unearthing weapons of mass destruction, if any, is better left to UN weapons' inspectors.

In making the confession in an interview with BBC radio, the British Home Secretary however admitted that the non-discovery of any weapons of mass destruction would â??lead to a very interesting debateâ?? about the war.

â??We will obviously have a very interesting debate if there are no biological, chemical, radiological or nuclear weapons or facilities to produce them found anywhere in Iraq once Iraq is free,â?? the home secretary added.

The US-led forces will certainly face a huge global uproar if no weapons of mass destruction are ultimately found in Iraq. Considered both illegal and immoral by a majority of nations, the US-led war is sure to look more unjustified in the event of non-discovery.

US-led forces moving across the Iraqi deserts have been under pressure since the start of the war to find evidence of Iraqâ??s weapons of mass destruction. But instead of solid evidence, the US-led forces have so far only raised false alarms.

From time to time, the US-forces have claimed to have unearthed â??suspiciousâ?? substances. And each time, the claim has turned out to be without substance.

Even today Saturday 5 April, US marines were reported to be digging up a suspected chemical weapons hiding place in the courtyard of a school in the southeast of Baghdad.

Western media reported that the US Marines were digging after being tipped off by an Iraqi informer. â??We donâ??t have a clue now but we are going to dig it up and check,â?? said General James Mattis, the commander of the Marine division at the scene.

Iraq has always insisted that it did not possess any weapons of mass destruction.

UN weapons inspectors, who scoured the country for several months till the US asked them to leave last month, had repeatedly certified that they had found no credible evidence of Iraq possessing any weapons of mass destruction.

Global uproar? Why?

05.04.2003 18:56

Will they face a global uproar if WMD are not found? I doubt it. Don't most of us already know? As for the rest? Asleep watching CNN serial programs in which last week's plot has already been forgotten, they will nod to the next set of lies.

WE KNEW THAT ALREADY!

05.04.2003 19:48

Well, Duh! Of course there are no WMD, probably at worse there is a little leftover chemical weaponry. Backlash? I doubt it. The media will tell us that humanitarian mission succeeded, that Iraqis have or will soon have democracy, that they love us for killing and bombing them, and the media and robotic politicians will most likely stay away from any mention of the WPD suspicions... If there was any justice both Bush and Blair would be thrown out of office.

not surprised at all

Chemical Ali and Jack Straw's mum

05.04.2003 20:09

Blunkett in the BBC?
Must have been for the braindead british public.

Everyone knows that Saddam had chemicals.
The bastard used it on Iranians cheered on by the west.
Then it was Halabja and to be fair by the west they did give it some negative publicity.

But claiming 'Chemical Ali' is the connection is where the bullshit is at now. Very soon there will be a dead body of 'Chemical Ali' and end of the episode of proof.
Come on! The proof is in the labs and military suppliers who trade in these shit. Britian is a safe haven for operators in banned chemical weapons. The real 'Chemical Ali' might be here in Kensington for all I know!! (No offence to all the innocent arabic poeple in Kensington)
Rumsfeld sold chemicals. Cheney sold chemicals. All they have to produce is the receipts, invoices and other business bullshit they always keep for tax deductions.

If saddham has some left over and has not destroyed it by now I will be surprised. OK the bastard might use it. The risk is always there. I must ssay it remains to seen.

But let me remind to anyone who might be new to these issues through a link

".... large chunks of the student's paper had been copied to form parts of the No 10 dossier called Iraq - Its Infrastructure of Concealment Deception and Intimidation.."

That is chemical weapons.

What about the nuclear threat. Remember all the 'dirty bomb' drills?

I will use the word dog (doesn't sound nice but Nelson Mandela called Blair Bush's poodle or lapdog? good one!)

Tthe disgusting British dog (sounds nice now!) is the one who did all the lying.

The US has been very honourable,. They said to the UN up yours and keep telling it. Whereas the british disgusting dog found another WMD,
nuclear weapon, which they make and posses in huge numbers themselves.

If you do not know the details already you must check this out. Especially the braindead ones who get pissed off by the insults aimed at the phoney british nation.

The disgusting dogs faked some documents. I suspect Jack Straw's mum and son did it together and Straw then passed it to No.10.

"Fake Iraq-Africa Link That Drove
America to War"

Now what do they do?
The GREAT REGINA@S DEMOCRACY, OPEN GOVERNMENT up their dog arse! The hansard of 24th of Sept. is withdrawn!!!
Bloody liars!!!
Pleaase see

To save you all the bullshit therein, I am on about the PM's speech of 24th Sept.

Let us remember the current immoral and illegal aggression in IRaq was built on the british disgusting dog's 'reasoning'.

07.04.2003 07:24

Our forces will not face any type of uproar what so ever...the Bush administration will have to answer to this...
I don't think that they are going to get out of this one...
