MAYDAY 2003 - Lets come together!

@narchist freedom fighter | 23.04.2003 17:06 | May Day 2003

MAYDAY 2003 - Weapons of Mass Construction

Get together with friends, pick a target and see whats possible!
Simple as that. The state with its massive media networks will
spend the next week keeping you off the streets to protect dozens
of arms, oil and corporate scum and allow them to continue their
murderous businesses open. The main thing not let them intimidate
you, your friends or family from attending Mayday. This is our day, a
day born from the violence of the state on the working class. If we are
serious about arming our desires and implenting a new world we
have to stick together and support each other. The are scarred of us,
thats why they spend so much resources, time, money to keep us
isolated and alienated. Global solidarity is our weapon, solidarity with
the workers of the recently evicted Brukman Factory in Argentina, solidarity
with striking oil workers in Nigeria, Solidarity we working class people
in Iraq and the middle-east and the downtrodden and victimised poor
of the world.

Mayday is going to be a pre-emptive strike against the future global
capitalism dictates for us. Lets come out on the streets on May 1st and
show them that we think different. All empires fall, lets look forward to
the day when we are pulling down statues of winston churchill, General Hague, bomber harris. When we are looting MI5 and the Home Office. When
we burn down every obstructing barrier to our freedom and hapiness.
See y'all on Mayday!

Yeah lets fight against Global Capatalism by using one of the symbols of capatalism the internet! We're not hypocrites!

Michael

ignorant

24.04.2003 09:31

DUFFUS, are you really that ignorant. We live in a Capitalist society it would be impossible to avoid capitalism and survive or bring down capitalism.
A part of technology, in this case the internet, cannot be capitalist it has no political mentality it isnt an organic being with a capicity for thought. It is the human relations and motivations behind something which make it capitalistic. We are using a part of technology constructively rather than capitalisticly therefore there is no hypercritical element unless we were primitvists calling for the end of this technology.

anarchist.

Hypocrisy

24.04.2003 10:00

Forgive me i'm confused, i've read the Anarchist FAQ's etc. Basically you want a world were the people rule.. and to set an example you are willing to use the infastructure set in place by the capatalists (the very people your against) meantime eg using public transport, putting your children to school, collecting benefits and other such facilities. Considering the vast vast majority of people are happy and satisfied with the current ruling body of the country is it possible for you to find an area were you can "start" your new society free from the present society. Surely if you have the courage in your convictions you would not use any facilites, products or ANYTHING associated with capatalism as you are against it? Sitting there using your Dell computer on the net bitching about capatalism is well funny! We'll use the benefits of Capatalism to complain about capatalism!!!!!!!!!!!

Robin

who's the "duffus"?

24.04.2003 10:08

I always find it funny that the most staunch defenders of capitalism (or should that be "attackers of anarchists"), have the worst understanding of capitalism (i.e. thinking that a technology is "capitalist"[!!]) and can't even spell the world!!!
"Global Capatalism ...symbols of capatalism"

LOL! (And it's spelled "dufus")

cappatalisssm

24.04.2003 10:32

An economic system in which the means of production and distribution are privately or corporately owned and development is proportionate to the accumulation and reinvestment of profits gained in a free market.

Of course you can't be free from capitalism.. wait a minute course you can.. go and live in the woods free from Capitalism.. do you need the obvious benefits of a capitalist society before an anachist society can proceed? Kind of a contradiction in terms is it not? Technology is obviously a part to some degree of capatalism i'm willing to bet the person posting the original post was using Microsoft software at some point..

MLK

Really rather silly

24.04.2003 12:52

Technology has evolved without the presence of a capitalist system in the past. If we lived in an anarchist-communist society, I believe there would be far more technology around: technology that helps free people from the mundane workings of life, allowing them time to free themselves and be creative, socialise, love, exercise, *live*!

The internet is a tool of communication more than anything else. To pretend that its just capitalist is as stupid as saying we shouldn't drink water because a capitalist company supplies it to us. In a communist society we would still be drinking the stuff - for free! The internet is in my opinion a great tool of communication, and would have evolved regardless of capitalism - out of an innate desire within all humans to communicate, learn and explore.

No to Capitalism! Yes to the Internet!

Shoes

24.04.2003 13:20

Are we allowed to wear shoes or would that be hypocritical as well?

Redroof

When it suits..

24.04.2003 13:55

I'm not saying that the internet is primarily one of the tools of capitalism but it certainly is closely associated. Basically what your saying is that you acknowldege that capitalism has helped the internet to flourish some might argue that it is primarlily cause of capatalism that the internet has been allowed to flourish. I think it was some dude at MIT (Government funded) that started off experimenting with such networks. IBM also had something to do with it I think, basically it was pretty US funding that started it all. What I can't understand is that if you are SO against capitalism why don't you boycott ALL things associated with capitalism. Don't pretend that it can't be done maybe you just don't have the courage in your convictions. About the not wearing shoes YES that is what I mean... If your shoes are associated with capitalism then YES I don't think you should wear them. How can you expect anyone to take seriously your argument when you're a walking advert for the advantages of Capitalism. I'm also confused as to how after these marches people cry to human rights organisations to press charges against police etc etc but in an Anarchist society people would not have such people available who have duristiction or the LAW on their side to prosecute so why use the advantage of them in a capitalist society? My understanding is that the community would decide or the consensus. The consensus just now want a Labour democratic government.. Anarchism hoping for people to work together as a community.. some to protest for it we'll smash the hell out our communities facilites..shops etc.. Mayday.. workers rights so we'll persecute McDonalds workers even thought they WANT to work there... Stinks of Hypocrisy

MLK

The point

24.04.2003 14:39

As every day people living in the UK we all use technology created and developed under capitalism....telephones, tv's, specs even switch cards and credit cards (the latter far too much in my case).

That doesn't mean to say that we are not entitled to want to see a society where things are done on the basis of human need and not profit.

I'm sure in the early 1900's Russia people were saying that it was hypercritical to use the newfangled demonic printing presses to print anti-tsarist leaflets but those people would have been told they were talking crap as you guys are.....most strongly by the poor comrade who previously had to hand write every f'ing bit of propaganda by hand!

Capitalism sows the seeds of it's own destruction.....or so the saying goes....are you really saying anti-cap's should wear rags and live in mud huts? You'd have a good laugh at us then init.

Redroof

.

24.04.2003 15:15

If you think that under an Anarchism you will be wearing rags etc then thats up to you if so you don't have much conviction in the success of your political strategy. Basically what i'm saying is the majority WANT capitalism.. a very very very small minority want anarchism. So don't reep the success of capitalism whilst preaching the wonders of anarchism. So if you think under your system you'll be living in mud huts then so be it. You should be COMPLETELY dissassociated from ANYTHING to do with capitalism IF it is such a bad ideology. You can have anarchism if you want go to the outer hebrides in Scotland and away you go.. nobody gives a F*ck. If the anarchist movement is so spontaneous etc then why do you need to publicise it (as such) on Mayday?

if a slave is chained and given a pickaxe to crack rocks, and he is fed about enough to survive and keep working, should he refuse the food? should he refuse to use the pickaxe to break his chains and his oppressor's head?

its all about social relations, our understanding of our oppression is deeper than yours, we see a bigger picture we use the tools available to us to free ourselves. you should join in its fun. in the mean time read a book.

internet protocol as territory

24.04.2003 17:26

First off, there is in my view no such thing as "The Internet", no definite artice to speak of. The phrase is a reification of a protocol.

Quite agree that it is human relations that make internet use capitalistic, anarchistic or whatever.

I.P. (internet protocol) systems developed from a Pentagon initiative, but they were built by people labouring for mutual gain; ergo, internet systems developed outside capitalism. The initial growth of internet use was nothing to do with capitalism and everything to do with co-operative communities of programmers, academics, computer users and government types all with their own agendas and tribal affiliations.
In the virtual ideology that this created, we easily forgot the material basis of the Net's scope and reach: wires and cables, fibre-optics and plastic casing. Each and every computer, wire, modem is part of the net. This kit was built by laboureres working for capitalism, but the ideas that fired up the net are by no means capitalistic in my view.

Of course, capitalists pretty soon colonised this territory. But there are still people internetting for mutual co-operation; its only natural that anarchos and other politicos will constitute some of these clusters.

From a revolutionary standpoint, do internet systems remain as territory to be reclaimed from the capitalists>>>
