Autopsy indicates that James Miller was killed by IDF bullet

mark | 08.05.2003 10:45

From an Israeli news site.

Pathologist Report: James Miller Killed From A Bullet That Entered His Posterior Body
(IsraelNN.com) The pathologist report from the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute states that British national and cameraman James Miller was killed by a bullet that entered the front of his body, the direction of IDF fire, and not from the back, the direction of PA fire.

The autopsy is part of an investigation ordered into the accidental shooting death of the cameraman who was working in PA-controlled Gaza.

"Pathologist Report: James Miller Killed From A Bullet That Entered His Posterior Body"

"The pathologist report from the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute states that British national and cameraman James Miller was killed by a bullet that entered the front of his body"

UH -- I hate to break it to you, but those are contradictory statements. "Posterior" means BACK, "anterior" means FRONT. Now which of those statements is correct, the one given in the usuals medical terms pathologists use or the one which somebody is "helpfully" translated for us folks who presumably don't know medical terminology or never studied any Latin.

'Posterior' possibly a typo

08.05.2003 14:22

A quick search on google news shows many reports confirming that the autopsy indicates he was shot from the front, and therefore most likely by the IDF.

It also show that the IDF were lying or mistaken when they claimed on Sunday that James was shot from behind. (Apparently the source for this was their doctor at the scene.)

More reports on the autopsy findings.

whats the difference

08.05.2003 16:29

wots the difference, even if there was proof, say like film or video it wouldn't count for shit .
The Israeli disinfo machine, in the form of mass media control will never allow it to get any serious coverage.
You got about as much chance of getting to the truth out of this as you've got with the carlo giuliani murder .. zero ..
just two more victims of fascist regimes ...

Prosecute the murderer

08.05.2003 19:30

There is video evidence of this, shot both by ISM and James Miller's own team.

Write to Jack Straw at the Foreign Office asking what he's going to do about the murder of a British journalist. If enough of us write they can't ignore us.

not much proof

08.05.2003 21:02

Surely this is a pretty medieval way of proving who Miller was shot by - the old 'if the wound's in his back, he's a coward' bag. In any case, I've heard/ read an equal number of reports on both sides of the argument.

althea

Missing the point!

08.05.2003 22:06

Of course it could be a typo, or a mistranslation into English (the link is to an Israeli "instant news" site and that's how they have it there).

BUT THAT'S NOT THE POINT! The person who posted the story HERE probably is a native speaker of English. Just because a story from "mainstream" media contains an obvious error doesn't mean we should repost it error and all.

I just don't want us looking like idiots who don't even bother to read what we are posting. In a case like this, where you are sure the other sources have it correct either use one of them or insert a "(sic)" to indicate the error.

The point is..

08.05.2003 23:21

Well, as althea said, the direction of the bullet does not neccesarily prove who shot James in any case. But it does discount the IDF story that he was shot in the back.

I would rather post the article with errors and let people make their own decisions, than add my own corrections. For all I knew, the headline was right, and the body text was wrong. So I included the weblink to the article.

When I posted it there were no other news sites with the story of the autopsy findings, now there are, and we know the autopsy findings are that he was shot from the front.

Hardly likely...

08.05.2003 23:43

>>

I don't think he's going to do anything, Mark.

Straw is only interested in supporting the Israel; like arresting potential suicide bombers in Britain. But not a word about the attempted murder of a British subject by the IDF.

He's already made it clear whose side he's on.

natsocnet

Well actually..

09.05.2003 00:19

If he is stopping suicide bombers, then good on him. I just hope that he will pursue the murderer of James Miller as he has the murderers of the Israelis killed at the Mike's Place bombing.

Did a quick search of recent news items

09.05.2003 14:52

A quick search on Google found the following from mainstream media sources proving James Miller was shot from the front, most likely by the IDF.

Arutz Sheva:
 http://www.israelnationalnews.com/news.php3?id=43045
"Pathologist Report: James Miller Killed From A Bullet That Entered His Anterior Body
(IsraelNN.com) The pathologist report from the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute states that British national and cameraman James Miller was killed by a bullet that entered the front of his body, the direction of IDF fire, and not from the back, the direction of PA fire.
The autopsy is part of an investigation ordered into the accidental shooting death of the cameraman who was working in PA-controlled Gaza."

From Ha'aretz:
 http://www.haaretzdaily.com/hasen/pages/ShArt.jhtml?itemNo=291441&contrassID=2&subContrassID=1&sbSubContrassID=0&listSrc=Y
"The IDF is still awaiting the pathology report. However, the autopsy findings appear to confirm those of the IDF doctor who treated Miller. That doctor found Miller was hit by a 5.56-mm bullet from an M-16 rifle. While the Palestinians possess some M-16s, most use Kalashnikov rifles, which take a larger bullet (7.62-mm)."

From the Scotsman:  http://www.thescotsman.co.uk/international.cfm?id=528082003
"Yehuda Hiss, director of the Israeli national forensic institute, told The Scotsman he conducted the autopsy on Mr Miller’s body with a British pathologist, AM Anscomb, from Dorchester.
Dr Hiss said the bullet entered the front of Mr Miller’s neck and went out through his right shoulder. Mr Miller was wearing a safety vest, but it left his neck exposed. British officials are demanding a military police investigation into the shooting. . But Israel’s army has not convicted any soldiers for misuse of weapons or killing or wounding civilians during the past two years, according to army figures released last week."

Could not find any that said he was shot from behind, hope that clears things up...
