US citizens - This is why you get bombed

World Wide Views | 30.05.2003 22:12

Photos shows Iraqi POW's being tortured

Sometimes I get really tired of reading the
atrocities that the US and UK has commited
throughout the world, right under our noses.
At times I even begin to get used to the images
of US and UK soldiers smiling for photos, as
they grind thier boots into the faces of cuffed
POW's, lying on the floor. Being an optimist, I
would have thought the coalition would have
learnt.

I accept that in the army you tend to fight
illiterate violent thugs, who would either be in
prison or selling drugs, if they weren't in the
army. It's no surprise that anytime a shooting
spree occurs, or a murder spree, you look at
ex-military. They are violent animals, hence they
are paid to kill other people.

It is shameful to hear that new photos have
come to light that show images of depraved
torture being committed on Iraqi POW's. The photos have obviously been confiscated and are likely never to be released. It has been reported that a coalition soldier has been arrested and is under investigation for the torture depicted in the images.

THE PHOTO'S SHOW AN IRAQI POW HANGING FROM A FORK LIFT TRUCK. OTHERS SHOW SOLDIERS PERFORMING SEXUAL ACTS NEXT TO THE POW'S.

One snap showed an Iraqi PoW who was bound and gagged. He was bundled up in netting suspended from the a fork-lift driven by a British soldier.

Camp x-ray ( tortured POW's ), cluster bombs ( child killing land mines), uranium tipped bombs ( designed to release radiation ), co-latteral damage ( over 5,000 civilian deaths in 2 years ), state terrorism ( Israel ), hypocrisy ( WMD's )...the list is endless. These are just some of the reasons why the US and UK are hated by arguably EVERY single country in the world, except each other.

Hero or Zero?

30.05.2003 22:46

A British soldier returns from Iraq with his holiday snaps... pictures of him and his cronies torturing poor victims and cavorting around in depraved sex acts and then... he puts his film into the local chemist to be developed!?!?

Does that not adequately demonstrate the complete ignorance, retardation and lack of gumption of "our boys liberating Iraq?"

The Army doesn't take illiterates - actually, it has relatively high entry standards educationally.

And give me one example of a "shooting spree" carried out by an ex-military {Dunblane? Hungerford? No.]

"The photos have obviously been confiscated and are likely never to be released."

But you seem to know the contents. They shouldn't be released since under the Geneva Convention POWs should not be identified. They may also be used as evidence in any trial - and so will be sub judice.

Oh, try Spain, Portugal, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Mexico, Poland, etc etc. Oh, and by the way, all the forementioned are democratic countries. I would think that those countries high on your hate list will all be despotic dictatorships.

...Despotic Dictatorships-

31.05.2003 01:13

...Installed, financed and supported through coups, assassinations and other outright overthrows of Democratically elected governments, or simply playing "musical dictators"(Iraq)-when you get tired of one-simply go in(with CIA or armed forces) and install another- by YOUR U.S.(or) U.K. government-"Sceptic"!

"Northern alliance"-Afghanistan(another example of "musical dictators")

Pinochet-Chile

Adolf Hitler-Germany, supported and financed, at least in part, by Prescott Bush(George W's Grandad), Henry Ford, and other such stellar examples of America's ruling class.

Shah of Iran

Suhuarto-Indonesia

Pol Pot-Cambodia

Need I say this list is VERY long, and if anyone has time to finish it-go for it! As for you "Sceptic", your real name is "CLUELESS"!

The support of the USA or Britain for the War was (and is) embarrassingly poor even though for one in your list which sent some soldiers (and starting to regret it now...).

Nelson Mandela had quite a moutnful about Bush's madness.

Which countries would "etc etc" be???

One would hope they are not the ones the US put down on their list as supporters of the War only to be told by the countries that they never told the USA so.

I think however in your case "etc etc" should be understood to mean you can'y think of any others but like Blair your are deeply convinced there are many to be found.

septic, for someone who can type a few lines here your line of reasoning and your "facts" seem like those of the average Sun reader, or illiterate supporter of illiterate (and sexually-depraved) Rambos.

never be confused by the facts ...

History first:

The Northern Alliance may be another bunch of dictators, but I defy anyone, including the US and you, to convert Afgahnistan into a liberal democracy. But the Taliban were a sufficiently nasty group of people to justify their removal - plus their support for Bin Laden and his direct attacks on the US.

Hitler was democractically elected in 1933. When his regime revealed its true colours, then I think you might just have noticed that the US was one of the prime movers in his overthrow.

Pol Pot .... when at any time did the US give Pol Pot support??

Most of your examples date from the Cold War, when both the US and USSR fought many of their battles by proxy.

But the US is irrelevant to this posting. For those of you without the intellectual powers of Sun readers, the subject was the behaviour of British troops in Iraq. And the original poster said, I quote again, "US and UK are hated by arguably EVERY single country in the world"

I really do feel hated when I visit France or Italy. I feel the waves of hatred emanating from Aisa, from Africa.

Saddam of course would never had done anything as nasty as this. No, those mass graves are just an invention of the Sun newspaper and the Murdoch media.

Of course, when all else fails, resort to vulgar abuse: "or illiterate supporter of illiterate (and sexually-depraved) Rambos. "

This has happened before...

31.05.2003 10:32

I remember reading in the "Independent" after the 1991 Gulf War that a British squaddie who had been in the Gulf was invited back to his old school as a "hero". He was promptly removed from the school when he started showing the kiddies photos he had taken of charred and hideously mutilated Iraqi corpses. He apparently did not realise that some might look askance at his action.
I'm not sure of the statistic, but let us suppose that 30,000 British servicemen were deployed to invade Iraq and are occupying it. Let us also suppose that one per cent of them are psychopathic racists and/or sadists. When you remember that British servicemen are not conscripts and that a career as a professional killer might attract a certain type, one per cent is quite a reasonable estimate, I think.
So then we would have about 300 psychopathic racists and/or sadists wandering around southern Iraq doing who knows what to the local population. Maybe it's the 300 who feel "liberated" under those circumstances, not the Iraqis.
An American soldier in Vietnam who commented on rape and other forms of brutality committed by US soldiers said that in Vietnam you got "jerks able to do things they knew they would go to jail for if they were still in the States".

Pol Pot, and Ronnie Reagan

31.05.2003 14:43

Quoth sceptic
"Pol Pot .... when at any time did the US give Pol Pot support?? "

After the Vietnamese kicked the Khmer Rouge out of power, the US and Britain both gave political support to the ousted regime at the UN, apparently because Vietnam broke international law by invading Cambodia. Since you seem to be a wholehearted supporter of invading other people's countries when they're ruled by nasty dictators, no doubt you'll find this news shocking and disappointing.

In furtherance of their political support, British and US special forces trained the Cambodians who had been ousted (the Khmer Rouge wasn't the only group in this coalition, though it was the leading group) in camps along the Thai border.

Hope this helps.

"Since you seem to be a wholehearted supporter of invading other people's countries when they're ruled by nasty dictators" - not when it's a case of one nasty dictator [Ho Chi Minh] trying to replace another.

Ho, Ho, Ho Chi Minh

31.05.2003 16:21

I must correct "Sceptic". Ho Chi Minh could not possibly have directed the 1979 Vietnamese invasion which overthrew Pol Pot, and was indeed bizarrely condemned by the US. This was because Uncle Ho died in 1969.

The Crimson Repat

whoever

31.05.2003 17:54

Uncle Ho, the Hanoi Politburo, whoever. Another set of unelected dictators. And as I said earlier, that was the Cold War period, when my enemy's enemy was my friend. The Cold War is over, thankfully. Nowadays, there's no excuse for tolerating dictators who deal with their opposition by burying their bodies in mass graves. And before you say Blair is just another mass murderer - well, let us hope that will be no more bodies dug up in Iraq again in the future.

Septic - I thought a moralist self-righteous creature like you would come up with saying what the Rambos were purported to have done as more vulgar than your peevishness over what I wrote.

Or have you gone blind to perverted acts or are you in support of them???

And how did you become blind???

Through doing what the Rambos did???

Vietnam and Cambodia

31.05.2003 19:03

Vietnam might have been a dictatorship, but that's not to say they didn't have the support of the Vietnamese people - Just before the war, there were elections scheduled for the reunification of Vietnam, but the US and South Vietnamese vetoed them, for the simple reason that the Viet Minh would win. Dwight Eisenhower actually said that had there been an election, 80% of the people would have voted for Ho Chi Minh.

In any case, there was vast world of difference between the Vietnamese regime and that of Pol Pot. I like the way you keep changing your view, once someone gives you the facts - first you say that the US didn't support the Khmer Rouge, and when you learn they did, you say they were right to do so because the Vietnamese government was bad. Arf arf. By far the two biggest mass murderers in South East Asia were the Khmer Rouge and the US military.

(And yes, I know Vietnam didn't selflessly attack Cambodia to free the Cambodian people, that was just a happy side-effect. They invaded in self-defence because the Khmer Rouge kept attacking Vietnamese troops over some border dispute or other.)

Grow up, antiseptic. If the squaddies did as alleged, then they deserve to be prosecuted. Have I ever maintained otherwise?

Arguing the merits/demerits of Pol Pot and the Vietnamese seems to wandering a long way from squaddies taking pics in Iraq. But, OK - Ho Chi Minh would have probably won because he was seen as much as a nationalist by the Vietnamese as a Communist. Since the Vietnamese have never in their history experienced democracy, that's not surprising [and don't kid yourself that if Ho had won the elections that there would ever have been free and fair elections again].

Blair has to face the British electorate in a year or two's time - as has Bush. That was never the case in Cambodia, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan. But all one can hope is that one day it will be. And the sooner the better. Anyone take exception to that?

Democary

01.06.2003 16:32

Reading some of what has been posted and from my daily contact with you the British .. whites, I will say most of you are true jokers. One talk about democracy the other talk about credibility after the period of election and other talk about freedom here and it doesn’t exist else where ..etc.

First consider the issues which effect the daily life of the majority and look at the facts to support them; In this country you have 100 thousand -1 million paedophiles, You can work out the number of their victims. Consider the rape rate here and the crime rate. Consider the crimes, which your countries are committing against the world, consider the indifference or/and the racism associated with it particularly from your free public. Your free public are free to not think and hence talk rubbish. Which one of your leaders came to be prosecuted about his/her war crimes, you the people who have elections and big and lavish courtrooms? Margaret Thatcher and her dogs/John major and his dogs/Phoney and his dogs have killed more than one million Iraqis, were is the punishment for those criminals?

People keep on talking against Saddam, I have asked this question before and I ask it again, where are the Iraqis who are welcoming your criminal presence on my country? Blair goes to a girls school, why do not he walk in AlBassra among the adults? The issue of the mass graves, again I have said before and you know it there was nearly civil strive + western and Iranian intervention in what had happened then. Even Unites from the Iraqi armies were fighting each other and a lot of people have died then. The only difference between the dead of the mass graves and their victims is the latter had proper graves. Further more for those crocodiles the bodies of the Iraqi soldiers from the Road of Death ~30 thousand and the soldiers who were serving between Kuwait city and the Saudi border which amount to ~30 thousand soldiers plus the few thousands of the fifth division which was serving west of Kuwait In total amounts to around fifty thousands, all of those fallen victims are buried in mass graves in Kuwait, why nobody has opened these graves? Is this why you still occupying Kuwait? When are you going to learn that everybody hates you, you nothings?
