Sexual Tourism in the North of Brazil has reached tragic numbers, tourists mostly from Europe come to Brazil after girls as young as 12. Girls enter prostitution to support families that otherwise would not have any other way of subsistence.

David Bregmann, 25, and English tourist was arrested yesterday, around 5:30 AM, in a rented beach house in Caucaia, metropolitan region of Fortaleza, Brazil. He was charged with sexual exploitation of three underage girls - a 13-year-old girl and two 15-year-old girls.
Journalists identified the same tourist and the girls at midnight, in Beira-Mar Avenue, a main tourist attraction, a few hours before their arrest.

Bregmann will respond for rape - since one of the girls is under 14 years of age - sexual exploitation of underage girls and active corruption, for trying to bribe the policeman who arrested him, offering them US$20,000.00.

Bregmann told the policeman that he did not pay for the girls and that they were his girl- friends.

With him was seized a computer, pornographic photos of naked young girls, credit cards and a dildo.

The police report said that one of the beach house neighbours made an anonymous phone call at 3:30AM, about three supposedly underage girls, that were naked with the English man, by the house's swimming pool.

A series of coincidences were involved. Five hours before the arrest, a team from Folha de São Paulo, were covering Sexual Tourism in Fortaleza and saw an English man with 3 girls - the three girls were wearing shorts and small tops and seemed very young.
Bregmann, so far not identified by the reporters, was driving a rented car and dropped the older girls KDGS - 15 and JLS - 15 at Iracema beach, nowadays a focus for Sexual Tourism.
The journalists decided to follow the Englishman, that took off to Caucaia beach with the younger girl, ACRD - 13.
Back in Iracema beach, the journalists found the other 2 girls, who told them how they had sexual intercourse with the English man and with other tourists.
At 2:30AM, when tourists followed by prostitutes started to leave the beach bars, a Police car raided the journalists.
Two policeman demanded their professional ids (mandatory in Brazil), the journalists until then were working undercover, not to attract the attention of the tourists.

According to the Police, business owners had phoned the police asking for protection against strangers in the area.

During the police raid, which lasted till 3:00, the two girls who were interviewed disappeared. Two hours later the police found the Englishman.
In their statement to the Police Chief Renata Gomes Moura, from the Agency Against the Exploitation of Children and Teenagers, the three teenagers confirmed that they had sexual intercourse with Bregmann and that he still owed US$50.00 each.
