Jeremy Hardy v. The Israeli Army, a feature documentary about the International Solidarity Movement in Palestine as experienced through the eyes of British comedian Jeremy Hardy.

This dark comedic documentary narrated by Hardy is a story of an unlikely person put in extraordinary circumstances. Hardy teamed up with producer/director Leila Sansour and other members of the International Solidarity Movement (ISM) in an effort to try his hand at ending occupation of the West Bank. Hardy could only describe the next four days of filming as "four days in hell".

The footage captured covers everything from the standoff at Yasser Arafat's compound to the siege at the Church of the Nativity. It gives an inside look into the operations and birth of the ISM and the stories that were never reported in last year's news bulletins.

Leila Sansour, the director of the film will be in Sheffield for a Q&A after the film on 2nd August. Leila can be contacted at this address:

 leilasansour@waitrose.com

There is more information about the film on it's web site:

Jeremy Hardy is in the SWP! Will he take time in his film to denounce sexism/homophobia in new lash-up with reactionaries? HAA no of course not, SWP scum..

Don't be silly

Jeremy certainly WAS connected to but is not to my knowledge a memeber of the SWP. He has done amazing work for years not just as a performer but as an activist, from The Birmingham 6 through to the Tottenham 3 (including Winston Silcott) he has campaigned on issues when they were unfashionable and not just jumped on a bandwagon. If you have seen his shows over the years you'll know that Jermemy has consistently attacked sexism and homophobia. The film he has done on the International Solidarity Movement in Palestine is really worth seeing.

I would be really happy to slag off the SWP with you on another occasion but you have got this one wrong.

not good enough!

That's all very well, but will Jeremy denounce the SWP lash-up with sexist homophobic Muslims? Or will he gloss over it because they used to be his mates and it might upset middle-class patronising anti-racist sensibilities?

Leila also said, she is very sorry she can't come, but has committed herself to the screenings and the ISM Orientation, Nonviolent Resistance of Occupation training day in Edinburgh, and the train timetable don't allow her to stop by before she has to be in London for another screening.
