Palestine in Pictures

Pal | 29.09.2003 09:02 | Repression | London

There can be no justification for this - NONE!

Anyone with a vestige of humanity left in them can only find this situation, and the fact that the World turns a blind-eye, heartbreaking.

 http://www.palsolidarity.org/pictures/flash/movie.html

Anyone who attempts to justify it is extremely hateful or simply not human.

Pray for the oppressed Palestinians.

Yes ignore brutal dictatorships and have a go at democratic Israel!

29.09.2003 09:58

Yes ignore brutal dictatorships like Syria, Jordon and Eygpt and blame all the troubles of the Middle East on democratic Israel, a place where arabs have far more freedom and a better standard of living than they do in there own arab countries.

Israel is a country under seige targetted daily by terrorist groups such as Islamic Jihad, Hizbollah and Hamas. It has to fight back and defend itself! Sometimes innocent people get killed or injured in the cross fire but that is not the fault of Israel! Israeli troops take the same precautions as any other army does in trying to avoid civilian casualties but avoiding civilian casualties totally is unavoidable.

Also some of your accusations against Irsael have turned out to be nothing but outright lies and propaganda. Remember the so called massacre in Jenin in which was claimed hundreds had been massacred? It later turned out that only about 45 people died in that raid to route out terrorists and most of them were memembers of terrorist groups. The terrorists had also booby trapped buildings making it impossible for troops to go quietly on foot. They had to use tanks for their own protection, and to destroy booby trapped buildings. Also the area destroyed in the raid was tiny, only a few builidngs, but propaganda photos made it look like the whole town had been razed to the ground by focussing on one street!

45 dead not a massacre?

29.09.2003 13:04

Rockwell, is there any crime you wont apologise for?
Interesting that a BNP memeber suddenly cares about Jewish lives, perhaps you shold not mention this to your nazi comrades or they might have as much contempt for you as we already have.

You forget that before the raid terrorist groups booby trapped buildings in Jenin with explosives and left trip wires linked to mines all over the place. Therefore the Israeli armed forces had to go in with tanks and blast any building suspected of being booby trapped for their own safety. Most of those who died were terrorists anyway and the others died because of the recklessness of terrorists who had made impossible for Israeli security forces not to go into Jenin other than in tanks and who were under threat of snipers and ambushes so had to go in hard.

Democratic Israel

Democratic Israel? Much like Democratic South Africa?
Rockwell, you are a cunt.
Please fuck off and die.

.. Rockwell's tiny little power struggle ..

29.09.2003 15:30

.. is between which set of distortions, lies and excuses to trot out today.

Today we have the .. israel is the only democracy nonsense .. (better not let on about the other ones, there will only follow a run down on why that particular democracy isn't or, like say Palestine, where the peole made the mistake of voting for who they want rather than what a foreign power, like amerika or israel, want - reminds me of the quote by ford ..'you can have any democracy you like as long as its complient' .. sort of!).

Then we have the 'they were all terrorists that died'. How do you know? Because we only kill terrorists. How do you know thy were terrorists? Because we killed them.

Also featured today is the 'jenin was not a massacre' insult (variations of this include the 'Rachel Corrie' jumped under the bulldozer, the Tom Hundle 'kalashnikov' distortion etc etc). It would be pointless (for Rockwell) to debate the issue of what is exactly a massacre, or how many exactly died (the figure of 45 is taken from the records of only the local hospitals mortuary and don't include the bodies dug out days later, or from other hospitals - a fact noticed by the UN mission in its thawted and largely unsucsseful attempt to persuade the israeli authorities for time and access to the scene)

But like I suggested before, this rockwell identity pastiche, serves a function that should be exploited along the lines of .. you knock em up, we knock em in ..

.. there is no point in actually attempting debate with this entity, but in attempting to dissect the nonsense we can all improve the standard of our rhetoric and share the information need to do so.

israel stole the land
israel brutalised the people who owned the land

are still the real issues to attend to, because;

No justice no peace.

how to confuse a nazi

29.09.2003 22:02

It seems like those from the extreme right look to see what the left makes of an issue then just oppose it. This is why they now find themselves on the side of the Zionists.... it's all a bit too much for some of them to cope with, some don't even know they are doing it!

oi!

But Israel is a democracy!

30.09.2003 09:31

Israel is a demoncracy though. It has political parties who rely on the votes of the public to gain power and it has a Parliament with MPs who represent different constituences of the country. It has a free press and free trade unions. Every law and every decision made is debated first by the Israeli parliament and the MPs and political parties are accountable to the people. To deny that it is a democracy is lies, it most definitly and functions like any other democratic country.

By the way why do you call me and the BNP nazis! The British National Party is a nationalist British party which wants to stop coloured immigration into Britain. Why is that idea nazi? If it is then Iceland is a nazi country as it's population is 100 per cent white. The people of the outer hebridies, Scotish highlands and Falkland Islands are nazis because they are all white with no ethnic minorities. And for that matter eastern Europe under communism was nazi because they didn't import coloured immigrants or have any coloured immigrants living among them!

Oh and if the German nazis were white patriots why did they persecute the white people of Poland, Russia and white European Jews? Millions of white people died under the German nazis that shows how much they cared about their fellow white people.

Once more

30.09.2003 10:52

something like 10 million people live within 'Israel'. About 5 million of them get to vote, 5 million not. How is this democratic? (Also, those same 5 million who can vote can move freely, carry guns and kill with impunityl)
If in the UK, 30 million people were denied the right to vote because of their race, colour or simply the fact that they wouldn't vote for the right party, would we still be a democracy?
As I said before, fuck off you cunt.

Andy

If you want a real oppresion to fight then...

01.10.2003 14:49

If you want a real oppression to fight then how about Chinas' 54 year occupation of Tibet, or India persecution of Sikhs, Christians, Muslims and Tamils. These two countries have murdered and oppressed for more people than Israel ever has. Look around at the world many other great oppressions are happening besides Israel's oppression of the Palestinians!

Rockwell

this is not complicated

01.10.2003 17:12

Rockwell

Please stand back a little and reflect.
Israel claims to be a country governed by a just, principled and moral system - to be a part of the civilised world.
Here are just a few things no other such country does, net even the UK government at the lowest point of IRA terrorism, when our civilians were being bombed and terrorised daily.

1. Demolish the homes of terrorist suspects and even of their relatives.
2. Use the military to target and kill individuals who are suspected of terrorist activity - no arrest, no trial, no proof, no defence.
3. Fire lethal missiles, and drop bombs, into populated civilian areas. Remember the one-ton bomb at midnight ?

Any government doing such things puts itself beyond the civilised pale.

If Israel truly is democratic (I am not qualified to know), that is not a defence, but an indictment of it's voting majority.

Democracy in no way implies innocence. It is theoretically possible in a democracy for a majority to pass laws for the murder of an entire minority group, and to do it - all without forfeiting the label "democracy".

Something more than a voting system is required for membership of the civilised world, and to justify its respect.

In my opinion Israel has forfeited any right to pretend such membership and such respect. It would long ago have suffered the most serious international sanctions but for the protection of the US in defiance of neutral world opinion.

Other civilised countries have been pushed as far as Israel - none has sunk so low in modern times.
