Bush State Visit Demonstration Details

Ash | 22.10.2003 16:48 | Bush 2003 | London | World

Bush State Visit Demonstration

President Bush of America is to visit the United Kingdom of Great Britain between the 19th to 21st of November on his first ever State Visit.

It is also announced that there will be a Chris Eubank style demonstration on all of these 3 days. We ask people to drive around the centre of London and horn as loudly as they can from early morning till late evening. All cars should carry anti-war messages.

Chris Eubank drove around Parliament Square, up Parliament Street, into Whitehall, to Trafalgar Square and back down into Whitehall, Parliament Street and around Parliament Square.

Our demonstration will also take in Birdcage Walk, the front of Buckingham Palace (Queen Victoria Memorial), The Mall and Horseguards Road.

Please remember the police have no right to detain you. You will not be breaking any laws!!! The police tried to stop Eubank but unsuccessfully. Now it's our turn to let Bush know what we think of him.

I also suggest we continue until Blair resigns from his role as PM.

Safe driving and successful demonstrating my friends!!

Ash

..Not Another Peace March!

22.10.2003 21:21

Maybe folding your arms and refusing to work for the state may be a better idea ... maybe blockading 'with intent' Bush's visit routes ... maybe throwing down your placards and putting up proper resistance will help ... maybe venting your anger 'truely' would make a better imapct ... placard waving does shit and you know it!

ActUp!

What's your suggestion then Act-up?

23.10.2003 10:27

What would you suggest we do about Bush coming, sit at home and complain about anyone demonstrating?

Sonic

where have all the flowers gone?

23.10.2003 10:45

There doesn't appear to be any organisation along the lines of the recent arms fair. I know there is a demo planned but would hope there would be other plans for this. Without knocking the call for a demo I don't beleave there will be a significant turn out. I'm hopeing then that those that do can be brought over to more active disobedience by the colurfull crowd. As for driving around in cars all day??? Do me a favour...

disapointed

marching isn't enough

23.10.2003 12:30

Sonic,

"maybe blockading 'with intent' Bush's visit routes ... maybe throwing down your placards and putting up proper resistance will help ... maybe venting your anger 'truely' would make a better imapact" ... these seem to me like 'suggestions' of a direct nature as opposed to the usual placard waving pacifist ideology that has never got any cause anywhere. Just some suggestions. If I can make it, yeah, i'll be there. What's the problem?

Play them at their own game

23.10.2003 15:01

How about the 'threat' of a surface to air missile at Northwood? Or are those threats only invented as a means of scaring us (like the one at Heathrow just before the 'war')?

Unite not Fight

23.10.2003 17:14

We must unite not fight...

Hi there! I see silly excuses why not to go on the protest, like using oil to run our cars. If that's the case, do I take it that you refuse to drive cars? How do you get about? How do you cook at home? Do you not use oil then? Hec, how do you travel? By a train that is dirty, overcrowded, unsafe and late?

Ok, if we can't use our cars how do we block Bush visit routes? The police will be out in force and like in the recent visit to Australia, they intend to put up fences so protesters can't be heard.

With our vehicles, however, it's a different matter. Yes, we can certainly go into the centre of London and drive into and block Bush visit routes, but that may end up in our arrests. Who here is willing to get arrested? Driving around London, we won't be getting arrested. In fact, with enough numbers of us, we will bring this whole place to a standstill. Then we can legitimately switch our engines off - just try to make sure the police don't think you're blocking the route or you'll get arrested. I tell you what, if you don't mind being arrested, then either storm the gates of Buckingham Palace or Downing Street. That'll leave them shaken and stirred.

Also, I hardly think that driving our cars into London for three days is hardly going to destroy the world ecosystem, environment and what have you.

At the end of the day, we shouldn't be fighting over how we're going to protest because that's pathetic. The fact is that this protest is going ahead and I along with a few others will be there with our cars.

We have to unite and fight the mass murderers bush and blair and do it by the most effective methods. On this occasion, can't you all see the headlines, "Eubank Protest Mark Two". Remember, we are trying to remove an idiot from power... an idiot who earlier today removed George Galloway MP from his own party because Galloway spoke against blair.

Unite!!

Forget the silly excuses, just go to the centre of London and make your mark. Be there!! We need to remove these idiots from power!!

Joe Johnson

stop arguing!

17.11.2003 23:37

the only thing that will stop bush is a sniper, he needs killing, fullstop.......but this isn't going to happen is it? just get out there, get all your friends out, make a day of, then just go with the flow....i'm sure thosands of brains put together will work something out....as as for those god dam eco-friendly people, don't pollute??? get real, i think a miniscule amount of pollution is worth causing some problems for bush, and hey this whole world needs destroying anyway, it's a f*cking mess and is just getting worse.........

so all of yous, get out there, don't think "oh, i'm just one person, i won't make a difference", get your friends out, we just want high numbers!!! and yes, we should block the f*ucking road if possible, doubt it though......

see you all there!!!!! don't pussy out!
