Maybe the reason this isn't 'news' here is because we all know how racist, corrupt and brutal the police are. Nothing about them can surprise me.
How many black men (and often women) need to die at their hands before the entire country wakes up to see what they are really like?

4 of these people have resigned.
4 were suspended...
Why were they not sacked?

What is even more incredible than the fact Mark Daly

was arrested for doing a valuable public service,

is that the public / press reaction doesn't even question the

reasons why these Fascists want to join the police force...in the first place

Um...just a thought...maybe it's because the police have been intimidating /

beating up / terrorizing immigrants, minorities, protesters travellers,

party-goers and anyone who wants to have a good ole 'time.

[strangely, the very same targets of the extreme right]

on a regular basis...for 50 odd years now...

My solution to weeding out the racists would be to put

surveillance cameras and microphones everywhere in all

police colleges and stations...see how these pricks like it for a change!!!!

The public have no choice in street / mall cameras spying on

them everywhere...But there seems to be a law protecting these

people who are supposed to be public servants.

What emerged in the programme was just how difficult it is to root out racism from the police force. They all had anti-racist 'training' but most of the racists were clever enough to keep their comments to themselves (and the camera of course!). Like the reporter said, it has just been driven underground where it is harder to monitor. The officers involved clearly enjoyed the position of power that the uniform gave them, and although this wasn't strictly confined to ethnic minorities, anyone of colour is an immediately visible target. These racist attitudes which in most racists are expressed in the pub, workplace or street, are incredibly dangerous when channeled through that position of authority, so open to abuse and corruption. We should not accept this as being part of what we have come to expect of the police force, but it is difficult to see what can be done to stamp it out. The programme reminded me just how differently members of ethnic minorities must feel at the sight of a policeperson- will they feel security or fear? This is not a society I want to live in, so even if you can't directly challenge the police, then challenge it in your school, workplace, local pub. Silence is compliance.

The facts are that the police force has to be racist ,sexist,homophobic anti
poor etc for it to function correctly .The police are not there to uphold the
law they are there to protect those with property against those who dont.
To get them to do so they need them to develop hatred toward all groups.
The polis are not a force for good they are the defence force of those in charge.
