No-one at all should support the so-called 'resistance', which is made up of ba'athists, nationalists, ex-secret police/rulers, and islamic fundamentalists. The left in Iraq - the Worker-Communist party, Organisation for Women's Equality, and so on - while opposing the occupation and invasion, is adamentlly opposed to the terrorist 'resistance' of the saddam loyalists and nationalists. Instead of supporting the 'resistance' why not send a message of support to those fighting for workers' rights?

Indymedia is making a mistake in publcising events in support of the "Iraqi resistance" This can only help the pro war forces label us at suppporting Saddam and is a betrayal of the Iraqi people. It is self indulgent idioicy not anti imperialism. Just because someone is fighting the americans does not make them right

The so called resistance is composed of

Ex Saddam loylalists. Are we going to back the tyrants and oppressors of the Iraqi people? People who indulged in a thirty year terror regime which suppressed all internal dissent and used chemical weapons on the Kurdish people? Who built palaces whilst their people starved? We should have no links with these rapists, thugs and criminals.

Jihadist and Bin Laden supporters: Do you really want to line up with hate filled religous bigots who would imprison women, kill gays and Jews and ruthlessly supress socialists and end any form of democracy

perhaps a handful of Iraqi nationalists and people seeking revenge on the occupation forces for their own abuses

And look at the methods the "resistance" has used-

suicide bombings killing innocent civilians
murder of alleged collaborators
roadside bombs (mostly killing Iraqis)

And a "military strategy" which jusitifes the occupation and prevents the building of a mass popular movement to establish democracy

These calls to support the Iraqi "resistance" are shameful and should not carried on Indymedia. Oppose the Occupation yes! Support the resistance no!

The capture of Saddam Hussein is being presented by the coalition as a turning point for Iraq leading to reconciliation and political stability
