I've known kids who had difficult home lives, rotten parents, the lot, and have risen above it to become normal, productive, happy people. I've also known people who were raised in loving families, with all the luck and good experiences that life can offer, yet continue to enjoy being cruel in the worst ways.
I don't know this woman from the Abu Ghraib jail incident, but I've known people accused of worse crimes. It always amazed me how many people on the periphery would try to defend them, portray them as victims, somehow not responsible for what they did, in need of rehab, etc., without bothering to get to know the accused, and make an informed decision on who was the real victim.
Some people are just born that way. Rehabilitation is not the answer for everyone. Punishment, deterrent or removing them from society is sometimes the only way.

You are falling into the right-wing christian trap if you believe that. Just because people live in nice houses and upper-class families, doesn't mean they will be nice does it. And some of the most down-to-earth people have come from poverty etc.
But it IS to do with their social relations etc. It is also to do with their relation to production, and how they are affected by the flow of money.

So you think that some kids are born "cruel". What evidence do you have to support that? There are a variety of things that make someone who they are. Relationships with people, such as parents, teachers and other children has a large part to play in it. Look at Hitler. Many people think he was "evil". When in fact it was his relationships with people and the economic sphere of life that turned him into a fervent anti-semite...If you want me to go into detail on Hitler's life I will, but I don't want to talk about him if I don't have to!

See? Nothing to do with class. You don't need to be "well-to-do" to have a loving family, good luck, and good experiences. Sounds like I'm talking to a middle-class liberal, who can't conceive of a working-class family with a pleasant life. Ah well.

Yes, that's perfectly reasonable. But it's not what you said originally. You said:

thirty plus US soldiers are being investigated over Abu Ghraib. only three are women. England, while being a sadistic bitch, is hardly the worst of them - from what I gather the male soldiers used her as a fuckhole just as they used the prisoners. She didnt rape anybody. So how about a cartoon of one of the male guards fucking a dog? It's much more likely, statistically. How about a cartoon of a woman being raped by several footballers? Quite common these days it seems.
Yes she's a sadistic shit. She was caught on camera pointing and laughing. She was even caught holding a leash. But why all the attention for her while the rapists and murderers are quietly ignored? There is no doubt that male and female and child prisoners are being raped, and killed, and on camera, but not by Lyndie England.
But I wouldnt want to ruin anyones view of the heroic male soldier... It must be her fault, it must be!
