Loyalty to Imperialism is Treason to Humanity

atticus finch | 17.06.2004 05:48 | Analysis | London | World

Sympathy for class traitors has never shown itself to be an effective winning strategy in the class war (make no mistake, the occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan are but different fronts in the class war).

Loyalty to Imperialism is Treason to Humanity

Are US troops protecting our freedom by slaughtering, raping, maiming and torturing Iraqis and Afghanis? Hell No!

Are US troops making the world safe for democracy by occupying Iraq and Afghanistan? Hell No!

Are US troops creating freedom and democracy in Iraq and Afghanistan? Hell No!

Are US troops our working class brothers and sisters? They may come from working class backgrounds, but that doesn’t mean they are our sisters and brothers. Killer cops, Mafia hit men, Ku Klux Klansmen, scabs, child molesters, murderers, rapists, etc are from working class backgrounds too, but we don’t regard them as our brothers and sisters, do we?

Many liberals, fake leftists, Democratic Party hacks and opportunists alike have proclaimed everyone to be our working class brothers and sisters. According to them we are all one great big happy family; there is no distinction between the bosses, their agents and the workers. Such nonsense creates confusion and promotes class collaboration, which demoralizes the workers and serves the bosses.

When US troops illegally enter a foreign country to occupy it at the behest of the imperialist rulers, they betray the workers of that country (and they also betray the workers of the world). The only way we can regard them as our working class brothers and sisters is if they refuse to obey ALL orders and mutiny and rebel against the US military. Note: when they do this they are no longer US imperialism’s troops; they become worker soldiers.

Will the US troops in Iraq and Afghanistan rebel against their commanders if we love them, hug them, support them? Hell no! The sympathy within the anti-war movement in the US for the US troops is a slap in the face to the Iraqi and Afghani victims. It dehumanizes them further, giving the US troops more excuses to be more violent toward them.

Sympathy for class traitors has never shown itself to be an effective winning strategy in the class war (make no mistake, the occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan are but different fronts in the class war). The history of labor struggles shows us that class traitors (scabs) are always scorned, heckled, denounced by the workers. What strike was ever won where the workers held up signs on the picket lines that read: “We Love You Scabby” or “Support Our Scabs”? It’s unthinkable.

Yet the misleaders of the anti-war movement in the US insist that supporting the US troops is a winning strategy. The problem here is these academics, intellectuals, Democrartic Party hacks, poverty pimps, and opportunists of all types are out of touch with the working people. The only people they represent are themselves. Their undemocratic organizations serve to keep the anti-war movement in the US from becoming a working class movement, one that’ll bring tens of millions of working people into it.

Will US troops in Iraq and Afghanistan rebel against their commanders if we help them organize a union for better wages, benefits and conditions in the military? Hell No! US troops join the military for the same reasons that scabs cross picket lines. But instead of crossing picket lines to take workers jobs US troops cross international borders to take workers lives and seize their property for the bosses. In reality, they are far worse than scabs. A union for US troops is a union for stone cold murderers, rapists, torturers and thieves. It’s a scab-brained idea.

What’s the best way to get US troops to rebel against their commanders? We must show the world how much we love our Iraqi and Afghani working class brothers and sisters whom the US troops are killing, raping, torturing, holding hostage and maiming. We must support the anti-colonial resistance in these countries even though we may disagree with some of their constituencies’ policies. In doing so we can engage them in constructive criticism, which is far better than leaving them to the tutelage of US puppet regimes.

We must also openly scorn the US troops for their crimes against our Iraqi and Afghani working class brothers and sisters, showing them our contempt for what they’re doing, at every opportunity.

Why Support the US Troops? There is no logical or morally justifiable reason to support them. Supporting US imperialist troops is loyalty to imperialism, which is treasonous to humanity.
