just to add to earlier reports: organisation and secrecy were brilliant and v important in the success of the action. support for people locked on was excellent. Liaison with the blocked lorry drivers was excellent. The workers inside asked us to move out of the way to let them out in their cars after a 12 hour shift, we asked them to car-share or pressurise the management for paid taxis home. Taxis were later seen taking people from edge of site! Drivers came and talked to blockaders. All decisions were made by consensus including those locked on. All in all a model action.

I was also wondering whether it is normal to have cockroaches next to a food depot in western countries... But maybe it was only accidentaly that I saw three of them running around the plocating circle...

GET A JOB

I was on the blockade and had to be up for a "late" shift at only about 4 hours after I got up. I work for a co-op and so much of the time I work long hours and often for less then minimum wage, but I enjoy what I do and have control over the way that our business develops and I know that I am useful to the community in which I live...
I'd be interested to know what the person who posted the question does for a living, its interesting what people regard as useful. To me the most important thing to do in my spare time is to campaign on genetics as I believe that the developments in this area are likely to have an effect that we will not be able to quantify within our own lifetimes, but hey your probally right and I should be out, drinking, having a fight and supporting the football. Earning a good wage to buy a 4 miles to the gallon SUV, buying the mail and hating asylum seekers. That would be much more useful and would reflect a much more balanced view of reality. Hope this post makes sense, its my first to indymedia and I'm I little drunk after finishing a double shift.
Lots of love to all who are fighting for a better society.

bit harsh

bit harsh,
not all football fans are twats.

however, dont u think the only real change can come from mass action rather than individual efforts (which are most commendable).

harsh world

05.12.2005 18:04

Yep, that's why this wasn't an individual effort/boycott/etc - only through collective action can people make the world a better place, where they live or wider.

Mass action however is very easy to manipulate, and a good excuse for some to stay at home till there's a huge march in London that leaves, um, the government quaking, er, um. That's why some people like mass - for their own agendas...
