Wirral Community Arts are pleased to announce that last thursday night the oxton festival was given permission to take place on 11/12 sept on storeton rd playing fields oxton by the council cabinet on condition that certain criteria are fulfilled which we will of course comply with. after an extremely successful first festival in 2002 last years event was stopped by the same committee mainly as a result of objections raised by police and local residents, which lead to the Tories and lib dems voting against the proposals, this year cross party support was received, however because of the cancellation of last years event along with other events on the wirral (disappointing all those involved), and having to wait this long for a decision from the cabinet, we are a bit behind in our organisational process and we need help. money is an obvious one donations,sponsership and stall holders are our main source of funding although everyone involved is doing it for free it still costs loads of money to put this on. we also need help in the run up organising, and on the day setting up the site and stewards.
this festival is primarily about putting music and the arts at the centre of the event by creating performance space for the large number of quality performers that live on the wirral, and providing a quality event for the community of wirral. we hope to have 4 music stages, poetry, theatre, and film space, and will make space for anyone who wants to do anything interesting
