does anyone know if these guys with the cameras are actual police or just civillians in police clothing? I always wondered about that.

Photographers are not pigs

The photographers/video people may dress as pigs and act like pigs but they are not pigs. As far as it is known they are civilian contractors who are allowed to dress ALMOST like pigs.

They have no powers at all and as you see in the video, they are always guarded by a real pig.

And they have no sense of humour too.

Addition: New links to R2R videos

Over the years that real2reel have been posting videos and links to indymedia, technology and bandwidth have improved but websites have come and gone. While indymedia is still here, many of the sites which hosted our videos are long gone and any video you can still get at is usually only very low bandwidth versions which might have been great five years ago but are now rightly considered to be very poor quality in comparison with other videos now available online.

We've started going trawling the net and our own archives to get all those videos online again in as good quality as possible. We've been posting the videos to blip.tv and from there they are also uploaded to youtube, archive.org and other sites. Hopefully, if the links in the article above arn't working, or the quality is low, you'll find we have now uploaded a new version.
