Haringey Council Talks Shite - Appeals to Tennants Selfishness | 26.08.2004 13:03
Haringey Council follows the Government / IMF line of bullshitting to aid structural adjustment. Tennants are offered new identical formica kitchens in exchange for letting the government flog off the last of council housing. I ask tennants - How cheap are you? Wouls some new windows and some new crappy kitchen bits and pieces ( or the remote chance of maybe somewhere bigger, you sucker?) persuade you to let them sell off something that is not theirs or yours to sell.
Another piece of propaganda paid for by us to bullshit us landed on my doormat this morning.
Ostensibly a newsletter regarding repairs, it was actaully a thinly veiled piece of propaganda on behalf of the WTO/IMF and its neooliberal G8 supporters telling me most of our council houses are shite.
They call this the 'Decent Homes Standard'.
Perhaps the government and the surveying company ( who are also international corporate estate agents and whose profits have doubled since taking on this work on behalf of the government) F D Saville should check out those private B and B shitholes that they are so fond of putting people in at exhorbitant rents.
A slight draft, a creaky door, dripping tap - hang on... That doesn't exactly sound like shanty town territory, but then this is what the government and its council lackeys ( who contain many property developers and people with partisan interests ) are trying to infer.
Transfer to a housing association? What like West Hampstead Housaing association as a typical one thast went bust and had it's shareholders bailed out to the tune of £2 million by camden council, those jackal-like fuckers that did everything in their power to turn Camden into a police state and close down all community saupport cnetres. Thank you Dame Jane, I hope one day you face the guillotine along with Blair, Wolfhenson, Chaney and co.
Check issues of Inside Housing and you will see how CORRUPT Housing Associations are, though they don't giove you the full picture.
Another aspect of privatisation of council services - repairs are done by ( nudge nudge wink wink )outside contract and the costs have spiralled ( repair people don't turn up, charge double, don't do the jobs as they are relaly on other ones and still charge top ( ofeten double )rates etc etc.likewise using agency staff. check out Haringey's sky-high bill for that one. Corruption soars e.g. the recent convictions of Haringey council and particularly housing staff. Some staff want to leave with the councils assets so they can get in the position of more power and more wages.
They are offeing you higher rents, less security ( 1 or 2 stage privatisation) and for themselves and their buddies ( property developers, surveyors, estate agents,builders ) a nice litter earner.
I could go on as there is so much more and the proof is there.
