Official Statement

Let me say the ESF was brilliant, and our comrades helped make this possible. The SWP steward who got an anarchist arrested is a bit of a nob, but he wants his apologies passed on - he thought the guy was a WOMBLE not an anarchist.
Having exceeded all our re-building targets, the Party stats for the ESF were, in fact, great. We sold over 250 papers, and recruited 7 brand new comrades. Additionally 15 of the new-style speculative joiners packs went out (thanks to comrade Mandy from London) to a complete North London Rugby club who turned up (pisssed) to the ESF... what a larf.
Dramatically, a comrade left Workers Power and joined us in the pub on Saturday night.
No other group can match our stats. We beat the Green Party and CND. RESPECT had the only other decent stats.
Help us re-build a new style SWP happening in a Socialist Worker Forum near you.

Official SWP to Change Name

Ha ha ha - very droll impersonations of me.

We would not change the name of the SWP without consulting the membership. And as yet haven't. But we shall be relaunching our Socialist Worker Forums as: Worker and Social Forums.
The paper is not being renamed, although a newswire and web-site called New Independent Media is starting up soon by a cooalition of the left including the SWP.
Since there has been so much speculation, we actually gained over 15,000 new members at the ESF.
Going forwards: the two most important tasks confronting the class are building RESPECT for the general election and G8 alternative conference and Demo.
Well done everyone.
