This kind of posting is hate speech and shouldn't be on indymedia. While I'm strongly opposed to the occupation of Iraq, advocating beheading is hate speech, and cannot be tolerated....

It's a sad reality that some people who have their hearts in the right place, and oppose the war in Iraq and American imperialism, are driven by their rage to make toughtless and inflammatory comments that make us all look very bad.

The occupation of Iraq should be resisted, and armed US/UK soldiers are legitimate targets for guerillas. But with all the anger, saying that they should "burn in hell" betrays a flattening, black-and-white view of things. I would much rather call on these soldiers - most of them working-class kids who went to the army out of economic reasons combined by a misguided wish to "serve their country" - to desert, shoot their officers and go home. If we are really serious about ending the occupation then we need to reach out to soldiers and get them to act on their own widespread feelings of being shortchanged by the politicians and the system as a whole.

As for th ekidnappers - well, people who abduct and execute hostages, some of them aid workers and others who opposed the war, and who are driven by a fundamentalist ideology and hope to create an Islamic state in Iraq - these are NOT my allies. To glorify them in this way is just plain stupid.

Finally, while I'm all against "zionism" if that means that Israel should be defined as a Jewish state to the exclusion of its palestinian minorities, calling Alawi and Bush "zionist puppets" implies some kind of Jewish conspiracy to dominate the world. There is a name for this - it's called anti-semitism, and it's about time we faced up to the fact that this type of racism DOES exist on the "left" and began to confront it.

A lot of people are getting killed right now. Let's keep or eyes on the ball ,eh?

- Actually the name for this is "anti-zionism" and since by definition not all zionist are Jews (in my opinion NO zionist can be a real Jew), this is by no means anti-semitism. I don't blame you for being confused - the zionists have been blurring the lines between Judaism (a peaceful religion) and zionism (a racist, nazi-like ideology) for years.

I think that those who wade in with accusations of anti-Semitism are themselves being facilitated.

The Anti-Defamation League ordained that any mention of International Bankers was veiled anti-Semitism. Anybody who bothers to get out of their armchair will know that of the International Bankers who are cited, only the Rothschilds were Jewish. The Rockefellers and the Morgans are clearly not.

But it is a useful tool for anybody who is manipulated to believe the 'official' world view to label anybody critical of Israel as being anti-Semitic simply because following the Holocaust it is justifiably taboo.

I think that the people who make slanderous remarks like this are either agent provocateurs or didn't turn up for school the day they did Boolean algebra.

Put simply, Sarah has a box of fruit. Some of the fruit are apples. Some apples are red and some apples are green. Are all the green fruit apples?
