Once again we see a post from SOME of those who demonstrate at Aldermaston deciding what will and will not happen. YOU may not wish to demonstrate and attempt to block the site, others of us disagree.

Please do not make public announcements that give the impression of speaking for all.

note to Indymedia moderators - the last time a post of this type was made you for some reason removed the post that made clear the position. Please do not do so again. These peole DO NOT speak for us all.

Alternative

Look it's pretty simple!

The 'Block the Builders' campaign will be holding the mass blockade when they decide to. Up until that moment, as they say, they will update their website each thursday on the on / off status of their blockade. This has happened again this week. So posting on indymedia as was done previously saying "THE" blockade is on (ie that the block the builders main blockade that they are working towards), is misleading.

That is why someone from block the builders replied saying this is misinformation.

Posting saying well some people are going to do it anyway is not misleading (assuming you do it :-)

"The 'Block the Builders' campaign will be holding the mass blockade when they decide to"

It's no wonder people got pissed off with that sort of hierachical attitude. Wake up Stalin, this is about grass roots consensus activism not your cult of the personality

Mass Action Vs Day to Day

For heavens sake 'John', you're way off the mark.

The Blockade the Builders event is about a MASS ACTION at a specific point in time. There are over seventy people who have pledged to risk arrest for this mass action, which will happen when the campaign calls it, and is intended to block all entrances /exists for an entire day. This is very clear from the website.

Sure if you want to go ahead and protest before then, then that is your right, so do so.

And even better if what you say in terms of being all about "grass roots consensus activism" is what you are doing. Go take action together with your group.

Personally I see long running campaigns like the Aldermarston Womens Peace Campaign as pretty grass roots. You may disagree and want to do something else. Fine, then do it. Just be clear in what you are doing and what you are saying.

The latest Block the Builders campaign comments here on Indymedia have been very clear...
- We are not doing the planned BTB mass action blockade this coming monday
- If others want to protest anyway then please do

It doesn't get any clearer than that!
