New Vegan Campaigning Group in London

Ritchie | 29.03.2005 11:40

If you are interested in helping to set up a group to promote veganism and to run vegan campaigns in the London area, you are welcome to attend a meeting to discuss these ideas on Monday April 18th, 7pm at Conway Hall, Red Lion Square, WC1.

Among the ideas to be discussed, it is envisaged the group will organise free vegan food fayres, hold information stalls and leafleting as well as helping to organise the annual London Vegan Festival, which takes place this year on September 25th, at Kensington Town Hall.

red meat for the workers!

29.03.2005 15:00

How are the workers going to be strong enough to destroy capitalism if they do not eat meat?? Most vegans are thin and spotty, pasty faced and unhealthy looking. They do not have the strenghth to destroy capitalism. Furthermore, lest we forget,Hitler was a vegetarian, while Lenin ate meat. Up the workers!

Hitler was a vegetarian - mmmh, since when did eating meat sausages count as vegetarian. Do you normally believe the words of mass murdering fascists or would you rather believe the words of the man's chef and other people around him.

For articles by people who actualy researched this issue rather than putting out the usual mythological bullship of people unwilling to face up to difficult questions:

vegans are undermining capitalism by the choices they make every day. meat and dairy are BIG business, and by not giving these multinationals money ( and not buying into a system of exploitatation and suffering )vegans make a difference with every penny they spend.

vegans are also more likely to buy organic fair trade products, while meat and dairy buyers are helping fund the killers and the capitalists.

so go to mcdonalds, then shut up about doing anything positive for the people or the planet, leave it to the people who give a shit.

Capitalism will adapt to veganism you halfwit!

30.03.2005 10:36

If everyone becomes vegan big buisness will simply adapt and provide mass bulk of vegan rubbish. Meanwhile people will become pale, weak and unhealthy like vegans. Also it's cruel to children to compromise their health and strength by giving them such unnutritious rubbish. They nead protein. Don't send em to Mcds give em meat, fish and salad at home. Some of these vegan morons even give their pet cats and dogs soya crap to eat! Cruel and stupid. Meat is good for all! The hysterical ramblings of a few spotty veggies should be seen for what they are!

Come and have go if you think you're hard enough!

30.03.2005 13:42

Come on then lazy fat meat eating couch potatoes, i'll take you all on you flabby gits.
Seriously the image of a vegan as weak pale and thin is a sad cliche. Ever met a bunch of hunt sabs? A lot of them are pretty handy in a fight - they have to be considering the attacks they get from hunt scum.

Vegans use less water, land, fertiliser, pesticides and crops, because of the fundamental fact that when you feed an animal food most is "wasted" - ie. it goes to keeping the animal alive than feeding it. By adopting a vegan diet you are using much less resources and contributing less to capitalist industrial agribusiness.

Although the human body can adjust to a Veggie diet (although it doesn't suit the metabolism of all as studies in India have shown) a Vegan diet is simply not healthy in the long term. The problems associated with it can to extent be dealt with by suppliments this is only true for some.

Growing children and the elderley as well as pregnant women should NEVER be on a Vegan diet. Periods of Vegan living interspersed with Milk, Cheese, Eggs etc are the better option.

Health not ideology

31.03.2005 20:33

Doggy how you treat your body is your choice however it is important that certain groups in society understand that a vegan diet is fundamentaly unhealthy and should be avoided by them.

This may be at odds with your beliefs but that does not change the facts. I have yet to find any informed doctor who thinks otherwise.

I find it frustrating that people confuse their wishes with the facts

How many times are pseudo-"experts" going to carry on parroting outdated and proven
false myths about the imaginary "wonders" of a diet containing dead animals?

As for the person claiming to be a "doctor," i have some news for you. Doctors are the
third biggest killer on both sides of the atlantic! You'd be better off pretending to be a gun owner - a lot safer!! ;)
