Unite Against Fascism is calling on people to join a peaceful picket outside Leeds Magistrates Court, Westgate (in the city centre) at 9am on 7 April 2005.
Nick Griffin, leader of the British National Party having today been charged under Section 18 of the Public Order Act which outlaws incitement to racial hatred, is due to attend Leeds Magistrates Court at 9.45am.
We have called this picket to demonstrate our unity against the fascist BNP and ask those attending to assemble at 9am sharp. For further details, contact Leeds Unite Against Fascism on 07932 221 014.

As for the Collett/Tyndall/Griffin court appearance in Leeds this week, there were others of us around - we just didn't think standing next to the cops with placards, getting filmed, was a particularly good tactic. As for the BNP "turning nasty" - Well you had plenty of coppers to protect you from flying handbags - They were back out of town as fast as they came in, none of the Little Englanders even stayed for coffee.
Mobilising against fascism is a serious business, and not something to be organised or chattered about on open forums like Indymedia. Most of the real anti-fascist work going on in West Yorkshire doesn't even get reported, that doesn't mean it's not going on.

I didnt say it took guts to behave like that, which was my point entirely when i talked about Antifa lobbing bricks at cars with kids in.
Regardless of what you say about the BNP, its members and supporters put their names forward with their addresses to stand for elections. Do you? They are prepared to risk threats, bricks and the rest because of what they beleive in. Are you?

Standing and being counted my komrade takes guts! Lobbing bricks at cars and running off does not. If you are so gutsy and are determined to try and further our cause by violence, stop talking and start acting.
Why not have a bash at the dark spectacled BNP security team. Show them and your own what you are really made of. If not start to work with people like me, not against me, who are trying to stop these people through thee right methods. Because i am quickly realising that this media outlet is made up of daft, thick, people intent on alienating people with their own view point, but with a more sensible approach.
