Fascism in America

The American Democracy Charade

FASCISM IN AMERICA

By Dr Les Dove

Under George W Bush fascism has thrived in the United States. The so-called free press has all but vanished. Investigative writers who were once prominently featured in the mainstream media have mostly been relegated to the Internet. As in the United Kingdom the press has been taken over by the multi-national corporations and the intelligence services, and as such it has become a managed media where conformity to extreme right wing guidelines is rigidly enforced. Indeed, when I wrote about Britain’s democracy charade I might just as well have been talking about America’s own democracy charade. The government is estimated to be spending around $400 billion every year on manipulating the public and the media, both in America and abroad. Many American writers now describe the CIA as being ‘their secret government’, one that selects puppet presidents and rigs elections in their favor. Pretty much as the CIA has long been doing in many other countries all over the world. Yet most of the American population is totally ignorant of its own recent history. Those who are not are still naive enough to believe that whilst the CIA may have committed unspeakable horrors abroad over the last fifty years it would never stoop to such horrors in the United States. But it will, and indeed it has. Yet the American public has become so indoctrinated and controlled by insidious lying propaganda it simply cannot conceive that the country has been turned into a police state.

Politicians in America, who are decidedly fascist, are now described by the ‘state’ press as being ‘conservative’, whilst moderate politicians are described as being extremists, or outright pinko’s. As a result the content of the average American newspaper, and I use the term ‘newspaper’ lightly, is little more than state propaganda. So much so that many American writers now openly talk of the coming police state, while some writers, myself included, believe that America already is one. To write the truth, however, is something reporters in the mainstream press cannot do. If they did they would be out of a job within twenty-four hours. (1) And they know it.

Freethinking writers in Britain have long been used to being persecuted by Britain’s own security service, MI-5, indeed just as I was when I lived there.
Now, however, the self-same persecution is happening inside the USA. That free speech is supposedly guaranteed by the 1st Amendment of the American constitution seems to matter not at all. If the powers that be dislike what they write Investigative journalists who dare to expose government abuses can now expect to be smeared, censored and persecuted in the United States just as they are in many other countries. Indeed, some American Web sites are clearly warning investigative writers to expect just that.

The ‘freedom and democracy’ that George Bush often refers to cannot today stand much scrutiny. The present attorney general has all but shredded the true meaning of the American constitution. In reality poor American’s, and there are a lot of them, have almost no recourse at all over ‘state power’ – again, just as in the UK. People can be arrested, thrown into prison and have their property confiscated for the most trivial of reasons. Indeed, the American prison population is now bursting at the seams. A third of all Americans have no health coverage at all, and at least thirteen million American children go to bed hungry every night (2). Even here in the Coachella valley where I live there are many hungry children. And God help you if you are homeless here. Almost nobody else will. All this in spite of many Americans working two jobs a day and often eighty hours a week. Statistically speaking the average American is worth only about $5.000.00 after working hard for thirty years or more. There are, of course, many huge success stories in the United States. But, as in Britain the many millions who live in abject poverty are all but ignored by the mainstream press, who mostly follow a hidden agenda pretending that poverty isn’t an issue. But it is, very much so. Money, however, appears to be the only thing that the majority of Americans now care about, and they don’t seem to care how they get it.

Sleaze is apparent everywhere, from the very largest of companies right down to the smallest. If companies can get away with anything that adds to their profit margin, they do it. The rip-off is in wherever you look. Newspaper advertising here shows it all too clearly. Very rarely is the true price of anything quoted and the offered price is often far below what you will pay after various ad-on’s have been applied. The so-called ‘rebate’ offers are amongst the worst scams of all. But scams of all kinds have become a way of life in the US. Indeed, it appears that almost anything you do in the ‘land of the free’ costs money, and a hell of a lot of it. If you have a good job then, of course, you can afford to pay all these extra charges. However, millions upon millions of Americans have now lost their jobs because of ‘outsourcing’. Most of these jobs have gone to India and the Far East where labor is cheap by comparison to the United States. Indeed, according to the LA Times (3) business bankruptcies here now outnumber divorces.

Many workers in the American service industries suffer badly too. Most workers are expected to work for a mere pittance. They must rely on tips if they are to survive. Without tips they couldn’t. Most of these workers now have no health insurance at all. The average American family of four must pay something like $10.000.00 a year for full health coverage. So not many people can afford to cover themselves properly. The same goes for the necessary drugs many elderly people need. Which now cost up to 55% more than they do in other countries (4). Many seniors simply cannot afford to buy drugs in the US so they cross over the borders into Canada or Mexico. Or, they buy drugs overseas using the Internet. A practice very much frowned on by the huge American pharmaceutical companies. Who, it appears, are doing everything they possibly can to stop citizens buying their drugs outside of the United States. But what else can elderly people on low incomes do? Quite a few seniors overcome this problem by going to live in Mexico. Housing can be a lot cheaper there to start with, and if one chooses to become a legal resident full time medical insurance can be had for about $500.00 a year. That figure also includes any necessary dental work. That’s just one good reason for so many Americans leaving The USA.

Another reason is, of course, crime. The police here, in spite of some bad apples, do a very good job in trying to prevent crime. Indeed, about sixty police officers are killed each year whilst doing their duty. Yet crime still flourishes. Whole areas of some cities are pretty much off limits unless you are part of a gang. So ghettos of all kinds continue to exist. Illegal drugs cause much of the problem. But people continue to use them and the huge profits made from dealing in drugs make the issue pretty well unsolvable. Indeed, many people truly believe that the ‘war on drugs’ can never be won.

Sport appears to be the one thing that makes Americans think of things other than crime and their social problems. When it comes to sport there is little the Americans don’t know about it. If a ball is kicked, thrown or carried from one end of a pitch to another, it never ceases to fascinate them. Americans know all about sport. Unfortunately, they don’t know all that much about more important matters like preventing corporate fascists from taking over their country. They really should get out more and start thinking for themselves. If they did they might then begin to think of taking their country back from the CIA and the thieving corporations who have undoubtedly stolen it from them over the years. Their judgment, however, appears to have been colored by government lies and the deceit of those they trusted to protect them.

America was built by rugged individualists who carved out a country that gave refuge and a home to many millions of people who had for one reason or another been persecuted out of their own homelands. Fascism drove many of them to America and being free of it allowed them to build the greatest country the world has ever seen. Indeed Americans fought in two world wars to keep fascism out of America. Immigrants had seen only too clearly what fascism had done to their former homelands and they wanted none of that elitist evil to take root in their new country. But it has, deeply so. Like Britain the United States now has only a ‘form of democracy’ at best, which is far away from being the real thing as imagined by the Founding Fathers.

Fascism, hiding under a cloak of conservatism, has insidiously been brought about by the very governments Americans elected to protect them from it. Whilst hundreds of millions of Americans have been busy chomping on hamburgers whilst watching silly games on television thousand of ardent corporate fascists have undermined the American constitution and corrupted their government to it’s core. In so doing they have made Americans look like total fools. Worst still, most Americans aren’t even aware of the fact. They still honestly believe that their ‘democracy’ is a true one. Americans quite apparently lap up blatant propaganda without a seconds thought. Indeed, today the American, and British people must be the most manipulated people in the western world. Not so long ago America was an open freethinking country with an ear to what the rest of the world was thinking. But that is not true today. The fascist mind-set that has now corrupted the United States has all but isolated it from any opinion other than it’s own. According to supporters of the George Bush regime he is always right whilst the rest of the world is always wrong. George Bush simply cannot understand that people in other countries think differently than he does. He believes that everyone wants to become an American. He can’t understand that most people just want to be left alone, in their own countries, to live their own lives without interference, from America, or anyone else for that matter. Britain’s Tony Blair has his own peculiar mind-set. He too is busy consolidating his own dirty little police state. Recently the British media declared over 60.000.000 Americans as being fools for voting for George Bush, yet it wasn’t so long ago that the British themselves voted the fascist admirer Margaret Thatcher into power. She turned out to be so corrupt and rotten her own party had to remove her from office. Yet when Thatcher visits America members of Congress rise to their feet as one to applaud her. That is certainly a good indication of what Congress really believes in. Whatever, Britain has become even more repressive by introducing a new law (4), on the pretext of preventing terrorism of course, that will inter every active political dissident inside his or her own home without access to a telephone, the Internet, an income or representation. This is exactly the same kind of ‘house arrest’ that is practiced in other police states all over the world. This latest measure against free speech and association, however, is not as new as Tony Blair would have people believe. Internal exile has been used in Britain for at least twenty-five years. I know this from personal experience because I was one of the writers exiled there. And if you believe that America would not also introduce such a law I strongly suggest that you think again.

Recently the American history TV channel (5) showed a program that exposed the CIA for having co-operated with the Nazis after the last world war. The program outlined the fact that ardent Nazis intelligence agents were covertly brought to the USA to set up a spying organization. At least 1,600 of these people, including some scientists and their dependents, were recruited and brought to the United States by ‘Operation Paperclip’ and its successor projects through the early 1970s (6). In return for working for the Americans the many serious crimes and breaches of human rights committed by many of these Nazi monsters were forgiven. Indeed, the CIA treated these Nazis almost as brothers. They were housed, fed, paid very generous salaries and feted wherever they went. In return these Nazis fooled, outwitted, and betrayed their CIA handlers at every turn. Pretty much as the British MI5 intelligence network has always fooled and betrayed the CIA. Which isn’t at all unusual. The security services don’t only lie to and deceive us they all lie to and deceive each other as well.

Some American senators appeared on the History TV program and voiced their disbelief and outrage that such a terrible thing could ever have happened in the United States. Which, if anything, just goes to show how naive some senators can be. Whatever, the common herd is even worse. Americans act almost as one in praising the late Ronald Reagan. However, according to Alex Constantine, the journalist and author, plus the historian C. Vann Woodward, Reagan was in 1952 an early recruit in raising funds for the resettlement of Nazis in the United States (7). Operation ‘Mockingbird’, which was also set up for exactly that purpose, made good use of Reagan, who also acted as an informer for the FBI. His informer's code number was said to be T-10 and his FBI file indicates Reagan’s intense collaboration with producers to 'purge' the movie industry of so-called ‘subversives’. Which meant anyone who was bold enough to stand up for real democracy rather than the blatant fascism the FBI was then promoting. Whatever, this goes a long way in explaining Reagan’s role in the gross human rights abuses and corruption committed under his presidency.

The mass manipulation of the American media by the CIA and the FBI, then and now, prevented the American public from knowing just what was really going on in the world. Indeed, over 3.000 CIA agents were – even back in the 1950’s, engaged in fooling the public through their blatant propaganda efforts. Indeed, in 1978 the Copley News Service openly admitted that at least 23 of its employees were CIA agents. So much for the ‘freedom of the American press’. Similar repression of free speech is also much in evidence in the United Kingdom where MI5 agents and their ‘Official Secrets Act’ prevent the truth from ever reaching a long deceived British public. The cost of lying to each other and the rest of the world cost American taxpayers an estimated $265 million a year by 1978. This is a budget said to be larger than the total combined expenditures of Reuters, UPI and the AP news syndicates. Today taxpayers are thought to be paying at least $400 million towards their own repression every single year. What the real amount is God only knows?

That Nazis were invited to be a part of American society causes no surprise at all to human rights researchers. Indeed, we would have been surprised if such scum had not been brought here, simply because the intelligence agencies of both Britain and America have always welcomed such people into their ranks. Dealing with tyrants and monsters has been a part of their secret agendas for a great many years. These various intelligence agencies pay only lip service in preventing human rights abuses. In truth they have supported abuses all over the world, and they continue to do so today. That most Americans know nothing at all about this sad fact isn’t news to anyone with half a mind and a computer to research with. But of course, you have to want to know the truth in the first place, and most people don’t seem to care enough if it interferes with their imagined perceptions of what is happening all around them? It is quite apparent that the average American simply cannot face the possibility of their country being anything other than that, which is portrayed by their controlled media and their politicians. Indeed, there appears to be an ingrained inability for most Americans to reason outside the box at all. Mass manipulation of the public by the media it seems has been highly successful. As a result Americans fail to realize that the billions upon billions of dollars annually spent by their government and their so-called intelligence services on wars and deceptions could not only make their country so much better if spent elsewhere, it would also go a long way into making their own lives a lot better too. Not to mention the worldwide goodwill it would generate.

But again, people generally don’t appear to care enough. The greed and avarice that Reagan’s De-Regulation introduced into America, just as Margaret Thatcher’s did in Britain, insidiously permeated into society to such an extent it almost turned selfishness into a virtue. Corporate greed and the Special Interests promoted by Reagan became the hallmark of his administration. Just as it has with the administrations of his successors.

Those of us who do care enough to try and do something other than blindly follow corrupt governments find ourselves far out on a limb. Governments go to great lengths in trying to prevent writers from exposing their lies and corruption. Indeed, so far as their intelligence services are concerned we are prime targets for their arsenal of dirty tricks, which includes being smeared by lies and deceptions, designed specifically to destroy both our reputations and our ability to earn a living. That is why so many writers find themselves on the Internet. Corporate interests own the mainstream media and they are hardly likely to employ writers who would expose their many misdeeds. Many writers do indeed find themselves in a kind of internal exile. Whilst the first amendment of the American Constitution may protect free speech, getting that free speech actually published in the mainstream press is an entirely different matter. Which is why so much wrongdoing goes completely unnoticed by the public. And it is the reason why so many Americans who are being persecuted, and even tortured, in these United States have not received the publicity and the justice they deserve. For many years now a victims list, regularly updated, has been an essential part of the Mind Control Forums web site (8). This is a list of people who claim they have been persecuted and tortured within this country. These victims now total at least 440 people and they are supported by many doctors and supporting professionals. These victims of domestic state terrorism have been almost totally ignored, certainly by the mainstream media, whilst the American president, George W Bush, has been hypocritically gallivanting around the world preaching about democracy and freedom! No wonder that he is one of the most hated men in the entire world.

A similar human rights site to the one above exposed government hypocrisy in the United Kingdom. It was recently closed down. (9). My friend George Farquhar operated the site. It was brought down by Britain’s security service MI5 and George was arrested on trumped up charges. I have been unable to find out what has happened to him since then? However, having been persecuted and tortured in Britain myself I fear the worst. Because the worst is what happens when you allow tyrants to do anything they wish to do without protest. Yet here in “The land of the free” Americans are doing just that. There are denying justice of any kind by not allowing a hearing to those who should be heard. And ignorance is no excuse. America has more computers than anywhere else on earth. Surely they can’t all be used just for playing silly games?

Or can they? Whatever, until the American people demand a hearing for these victims and a truthful accounting of what caused their plight in the first place they might think again before boasting about their ‘freedom and democracy’.

As Robert Lederman recently wrote:
“GW Bush and the real President of the United States, Mr. Dick Cheney. They are the best fascists money can buy.”

"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

More to the point we should read this again and start doing what should have been done a long time ago:

‘This country, with its institutions, belongs to the people who inhabit it. Whenever they shall grow weary of the existing government, they can exercise their constitutional right of amending it, or the revolutionary right to dismember or overthrow it.’
Abraham Lincoln

‘CNN/CIA THE ENEMY WITHIN - THE MASTERS OF DECEPTION’ By voxfux
Forty years ago, the CIA’s, “Operation Mockingbird,” went into full swing. The goal of the program was simply to control all mechanisms of opinion - the print news, the public opinion polls and the television news media. Their thinking was, if you control what people think, you’ve won the war before it has even begun.
 http://www.voxfux.com/archives/00000082.htm
“The corporate mass-media serve to divert the unwashed masses and reinforce the basic social values: passivity, submissiveness to authority, the overriding virtue of greed and personal gain, lack of concern for others, fear of real or imagined enemies, etc.
“The goal is to keep the bewildered herd bewildered. It’s unnecessary for them to trouble themselves with what’s happening in the world. In fact, it’s undesirable — if they see too much of reality they may set themselves to change it. Any dictator would admire the uniformity and obedience of the [U.S.] media.”

“The U.S. Government spends more than $400,000,000 per year to employ more than 8000 workers to create propaganda favorable to the United States. The result: 90 films per year, twelve magazines in 22 languages, and 800 hours of Voice of America programming in 37 languages with an estimated audience of 75 million listeners — all describing the ‘virtues’ of the American way.”
Pratkanis and Aronson
Age of Propaganda: the everyday use and abuse of persuasion

“The CIA is not now nor has it ever been a central intelligence agency. It is the covert action arm of the President’s foreign policy advisers. In that capacity it overthrows or supports foreign governments while reporting ‘intelligence’ justifying those activities. It shapes its intelligence, even in such critical areas as Soviet nuclear weapons capability, to support presidential policy.
“Disinformation is a large part of its covert action responsibility, and the American people are the primary target of its lies.”
