Over 10,000 men, women and children lose their lives in the UK every year after being poisoned to death after taking unsafe animal tested drugs.

100,000 men, women and children in the USA lose their lives every year after being poisoned to death after taking unsafe animal tested drugs. That's 1 million dead people every ten years in the USA - for those that aren't mathmeticians.

2.8 million animals died in the UK alone last year so these killer drugs could be unleashed onto the world market.

Holocaust anybody?

Vivisection is scientific fraud, a complete waste of time and lives.

The 'economy' doesn't care how many lives are lost as long as the cash taken from the sale of these completely unsafe drugs is rolling into the bank accounts of the ruling classes.

For all lifes sake - Stop Animal Experiments NOW!

First off, correlation doesn't prove cause and effect. I've seen no decent evidence to suggest that safety would be any better if vivisection was abolished. Secondly, don't make out that you're concerned about how it's 'bad science' because you're not fooling anybody. It's pretty clear that you nutcases would be against animal testing regardless of how many human lives it could cost.

Humpty Dumpty

well... yeah

27.05.2005 07:01

It isn't just animal testing that is bad. It is the many, many forms of animal abuse that exist. With any of them still acceptable to society it just paves the way to commit other abuses.

Remember, might does not equal right. Just because we can doesn't mean we have to.

Bad Science is one of the many arguments against vivisection, along with the heinous cruelty involved and many others. Choose the right tools for every job.

Animal Testing has been reutinely accepted as pointless. Last week there was an article on the BBC website regarding the contraceptive pill which stated that it can cause increased chance of cancer in mice - however the scientist said 'don't panic, mice aren't like us so it doesn't really mean anything'. (If I re-find the article, I will link to it).

Well, at least us nutcases don't go around killing and maiming millions of animals and causing the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people.

The Pusher

Regarding your links

28.05.2005 23:31

Vivisection absurd is far too generous with emotive language for me to believe that they're motivated by anything other than cruelty concerns.

The Dr Hawden Trust describes non-vivisection based research methods as cheaper and safer. Now put yourself in the shoes of a fat greedy CEO of a major pharmaceutical company: you have the opportunity to switch to a nethod of research that is not only cheaper, but also a lot safer and would have the added effect of getting the animal rights militants off their backs. If this was true, then from a purely business point of view, what company wouldn't have switched long ago? Believe it or not, these companies don't experiment because it's jolly good fun. There's obviously something skewed with the trust's resoning.

If you cite the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine then you really are clutching at straws. Most of the people there aren't even physicians and they've been proven as a front for PETA. A group like that can hardly be seen as impartial.

Americans for Medical Advancement do come up with a many instances where animal models have failed. I accept these as legitimate, but they seem to conveniently ignore the instances where they've been a success.

I don't think that anybody is claiming that animal research is a magic cure-all that is suitable for all instances. It isn't, but I believe that those who are calling for an outright ban on vivisection are putting emotion before science. Those who illegally obstruct legitimate research should be sent to prison for a very long time. And I certainly hope those of you against animal research would refuse medical treatment that's been tested on animals!

His downfall was his lack of heart

Humpty Dumpty said >> I believe that those who are calling for an outright ban on vivisection are putting emotion before science.

We are emotional beings riding strong with compassion in our hearts. Shepards on the earths face, that is all we are. We are humanity.

We will win and your cruel natured kind will lose. It is as simple as that. Evolution washes over all.

Until all are free under the sun.

The Truth

Of course Humpty Dumpty one must not get emotional about animals being horribly abused, such as the penises of beagles being hollowed out and then being submitted to electric shocks to test Viagra, or another common method used (and totally useless with no scientific validity at all) to examine monozygotic twins, where two dogs are surgically spliced together under anaesthetic, only to awake from this and attack each other. No, we must not become emotional at all(what the fuck is this guy on?)
What about Thalidomide? that was tested for years on animals before being passed as safe for women with post natal depression to take, only that it caused newborn babies to be born without limbs, as well as infanticide and some mothers becoming insane.
What about opfren, tested on animals, the anti arthrits drug which caused excessive photosensitivity in patients?
What about the SSRI Seroxat, which has led to some patients going mad adn killing their families?
What about DES, a synthetic oestrogen given to pregnant women, the only problem here is that it produced cancer in offspring?

Animal testing is useless and scientific fraud. The pharmaceutical companies dont really want to cure disease and are using this outdated and disgusting method which is utterly worthless... you cure disease there are no more profits for the pharmaceutical companies? This is not a conspiracy theory either, in the united states valid alternative methods of treating cancer, such as laetrile (an extract from almonds), have been forced underground after pressure from the pharmaceutical companies and the FDA.
Get your facts right humpty dumpty, We all know what happened to you after you had a big fall, or were you pushed?
Or perhaps 'humpty dumpty' has his head stuck up his arse.

The Truth

One must not become immersed in emotions when talking abuot vivisection? Yes Humpty Dumpty, you are absolutely right.
One must not care when useless animal experiments are used to market drugs that go on to injure and kill people, and in the process make millions for the pharmaceutical industy.
One must be detached in the face of the vivisector's surgical knife, when for example he hollows out the penises of thosuands of beagles and then subjects their genital areas to electric shocks to test Viagra.
It takes a particular perverse mindset,(echoes of Joseph Mengele here) to be detached whilst surgically splicing two dogs together in order to examine dyzygotic twins (a useless and scientifically worthless experiment). Also one must be detached when the dogs come around after anaesthetic and attack each other.
One must be detached in teh case of Thalidomide, marketed as a cure for morning sickness but which lead to hideous birth deformities, as well as infanticide and some mothers becoming insane.
Also in the case of Seroxat, the SSRI antidepressant marketed after animal testing but which has led some people to murder their familes and then kill themselves.
Also the synthetic DES oestrogen, which led to cancer in offspring of pregnant women,
Also Valium, Opfren, Quincolonon and THOUSANDS OF OTHER MANUFACTURED DRUGS WHICH HAVE GONE ON TO INJURE AND KILL PEOPLE.
The pharmaceutical companies do not wish to cure disease, if you cure disease, such as cancer, you throw a spanner in the works of the private medicine industry as well as Big Pharma's profits. Sounds like a conspiracy theory? Then why is it that in the WEst, particularly the United States alternative cures for cancer, such as laetrile, have been forced to go underground due to pressure from the phramaceutical companies?
Remember Humpty Dumpty, a member of your family could end up ill and be prescribed one of these poisons tested on animals but which coudl make them ill even more. Did you know that in the US ONE IN TEN of hosptial admissions are due to side efects of manufactured drugs.
Get your facts right humpty dumpty before you defend what can only be described as an unspeakable and unnecessary evil, and whilst you are at it take your head from out of your arse.
