join us on the g8 critical mass...

On Friday 24th June at 6pm outside Manchester Central Library we shall meet for one of the most spectacular critical masses Manchester has seen. We will be joined by cyclists from all over the world who are cycling from Brighton to Edinburgh in a protest against the G8 and stoppin off for fun with us in manchester.

We shall take the roads and celebrate the bicycle then there's all sorts of fun stuff to follow including samba and food in a lovely outdoor location! whether you're on a bike, a skateboard, rollerskates or a space hopper..come celebrate fuel free transport. See the critical mass website for more info here.

join us for a most fantastical time... see  http://www.velorution.org.uk/

after the bike ride and shinanigans in the park there will also be a
fundaraising evening event (more details on www.dosummat.org.uk in G8 section soon)

Cycling bears

Don't use images of animal abuse in positive protest, it gives totally fucked up messages. This poor bear will be have been probably stolen from its mother while young, had all its teeth and claws ripped out so that it's not able to defend itself, then tortured to dance/cycle etc. When bear are tortured into dancing, the torturers use hot plates. They play music and force the bears to stand on burning hot plates. This makes them react and stand up to get away from the searing pain on their pads. They soon start to associate this pain with the music, and so they react to the music by standing up, as if on command. The same use of force and pain is used to make them get on a bicycle, which is obviously not a natural thing to do. Check out any good animal charity/welfare website to learn more about this kind of thing and how to help stop it...www.animalaid.org.uk, www.animalsasia.org, www.wspa.org.au/03campaigns/libearty/01libearty.html (this last one is particularly informative about what happens to these lovely animals at the hands of people all over the world).
