American and British planes drop 500 lb bombs in Iraq operation

freedom for Iraq ! | 23.06.2005 00:04 | Anti-militarism | Repression

While we were writing this report , Dr .H Al-Aaloossy , the director of Al-Qaim General Hospital sent a call for help (June 20,2005) to the international community asking for lifting the military siege imposed by the American and British troops on Al-Qaim and the neighboring areas, and to let the ambulances evacuate the wounded. He also called upon these troops to stop the blood bath, and to let water, electricity, and medical help reach the civilians. He said that tens of families are buried under the rubbles and no medical help can reach them. He confirmed that the majority of the casualties were civilians, women and children

Aid agencies call for access to Karabila

Aid agencies and doctors have called on Coalition forces in Iraq to allow them safe access to the village of Karabila in the west of the country, as battles between troops and insurgents continue.

"The situation is critical in the village of Karabila. Hundreds of injured people are inside the town requiring urgent medical treatment but have been prohibited to leave the village by US forces and we are not authorised to enter there," Dr Hamed al-Alousi, director at the nearby al-Qaim general hospital, said.

You know full well it is the insurgents the Americans target NOT the Iraqi peopl

23.06.2005 08:53

You know full well that it is the terrorist insurgents the American forces are targetting and are at war with NOT the ordinary Iraqi people. These insurgent terrorists have killed far more Iraqi people than the allies! The terrorist insurgents attacks Iraqi police stations, Iraqi workers and Iraqi government and local government buildings and officials. The terrorist insurgents are trying to destroy the new democratic Iraq with a massive terrorist onslaught of suicide bombings, bombings, assasinations, kidnappings and murders.

Whatever your views were on the war in Iraq to start with everyone should now rally round and support the new democratic Iraqi government and allied efforts to rebuild the country. Stop posting mis-information on Indymedia. Everyone knows the score concerning the role of allied troops, which is to protect and rebuild the new democratic Iraq. And defend it from terrorists who are hell bent on destroying it.

Lie: These insurgent terrorists have killed far more Iraqi people than the allies!
Fact: The Anglo-American terrorists have killed more Iraqis than anybody else.

Lie: The terrorist insurgents are trying to destroy the new democratic Iraq
Fact: The new Iraqi government is no more democratic than the last one.

Lie: Whatever your views were on the war in Iraq to start with everyone should now rally round and support the new democratic Iraqi government and allied efforts to rebuild the country.
Fact: You were wrong before the war, you were wrong during the war, and you are still wrong now: everyone should oppose the conquest of Iraq, more now than ever.

Stop posting on Indymedia.

In answer to Tom

Tom,

Your comments are understandable but you must remember the thinking behind those who post to the Indymedia Newswire. They have a hatred for the USA that transends balanced radical argument and means they will support any group that opposes them. Now these people may well be exremist Muslims dedicated to establishing a Theocracy in Iraq and removing democracy from the people but as long as they are prepared to attack American and British soldiers posters here will support them.

It's sick but take solace from the fact they are a very small minority in the world

James

USA, the Iraqi Resistance and Terror

23.06.2005 10:43

The most important resistance groups have publically denounced terrorism. The Iraqi Patriotic Alliance is one of the political groups within the resistance movement. In its November 2004 declaration, the IPA denounced terrorism:
“Schools, churches, mosques and other civilian places have never been the target of the Iraqi resistance. Besides, we have to be very critical and careful about kidnapping or killing foreign workers in Iraq. The resistance has no benefit in attacking people like Margaret Hassan, the two Simonas or others. These actions are meant to discredit the legal resistance of our people.”

(Go) home James!

LIE: They have a hatred for the USA that transends (sic) balanced radical argument and means they will support any group that opposes them.

FACT: Progressive people would have opposed the illegal and murderous attack on Iraq if it had been carried out by China, India, Holland or bloody Mozambique. Unfortunately only the USA (and its UK apprentice) is in the habit of regularly bombing the shit out of countries which pose it no threat. So by default, we oppose it.

Simple as.

And by the way, Captain Illiterate, what the fuck is "balanced radical argument"? Do you mean "balanced rational argument"? If so you might want to try it, instead of spouting weary slogans and myths.

LIE: Now these people may well be exremist Muslims dedicated to establishing a Theocracy in Iraq and removing democracy from the people but as long as they are prepared to attack American and British soldiers posters here will support them.

FACT: All sorts of people are exploiting the chaos in Iraq caused by the illegal invasion and some of them are indeed Nasty Men. None of this would have happened if the US had left Iraq alone militarily and covertly assisted genuine pro-democracy groups within Iraq. And none of it detracts from the fact that a country's own population has every right to resist an occupier if it so wishes. Or were the French resistance "terrorists"?

LIE: America wants a "democratic" Iraq

FACT: A democratic Iraq, and indeed genuinely democratic elections across the Middle East would be anathema to the Bush regime as they would return mostly anti-US, Islamist governments. Not good, but that's what you get for pissing so many people off for so long (cf. Israel).

You are incredibly stupid and boring, Jimmy Boy

Illegal Invasion of Iraq

23.06.2005 14:04

One only has to closely examine the Iraqi constitution put in place by Paul Bremer before his departure to understand the true intentions of the US/UK invasion and also to understand the existance of resistance force to the occupation.
With that in mind there is no doubt that any acts of terrorism will be attributed to "the enemy" in the mainstream media. That is not to say there aren't terrorist acts being commited in the name of insurgency by various groups, however one was also not dismiss the fact that the 'coallition' forces are also comitting these acts themselves for propaganda purposes.

During an April 2000 visit to England, Putin [ex KGB] reiterated his warning:

"The West must wake up... war with Islam is coming."

In light of current U.S.-Russian collaboration in a global "war on terrorism," Putin's words seem nearly prophetic. At a summit meeting with European Union leaders following the Black Tuesday attack, Putin reiterated the theme that Russia and the West share a common enemy.

He drew a specific parallel between that atrocity and the September 1999 bombings in Russia, insisting that Moscow possesses "objective proof" that bin Laden-connected Chechen radicals were responsible for the terrorist assaults.

Blair aide calls for colonies
Mar 28 2002 By Bob Roberts

A SENIOR aide to Tony Blair yesterday called for a return to colonialism.
Foreign affairs adviser Robert Cooper said: "What is needed is a new kind of imperialism.

"The opportunities, perhaps even the need for colonisation, is as great as it ever was in the 19th century."

Mr Cooper added: "The weak still need the strong and the strong still need an orderly world.

"A world in which the efficient and well-governed export stability and liberty, and which is open for investment and growth, seems eminently desirable."

He said Afghanistan showed what could happen if the West did not intervene in the Third World.

Terrorists could use failed states as bases to attack "orderly" nations.

His comments will anger MPs who think Labour is keener on matters abroad than problems at home.
But Mr Blair stressed that the world couldn't submit to the "savagery of the fanatic".

Silvio Berlusconi - In the wake of 11 September:

"We must be aware of the superiority of our civilisation, a system that has guaranteed well-being, respect for human rights and - in contrast with Islamic countries - respect for religious and political rights, a system that has as its value understanding of diversity and tolerance...

"The West will continue to conquer peoples, even if it means a confrontation with another civilisation, Islam, firmly entrenched where it was 1,400 years ago."

Rove: Dems don't understand post-9/11 world
Bush adviser suggests Dems wanted to 'offer therapy' to attackers

The Associated Press
Updated: 3:41 a.m. ET June 23, 2005

NEW YORK - Speaking in a ballroom just a few miles north of ground zero, Karl Rove said the Democratic party did not understand the consequences of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

“Liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers,” Rove said Wednesday night. “Conservatives saw the savagery of 9/11 and the attacks and prepared for war.”

Rove, President Bush’s chief political adviser, spoke at the state Conservative Party’s annual dinner. He praised the conservative movement’s success, calling it “the guiding philosophy for the White House, the Senate, the House.”

Rove said the Democratic Party made the mistake of calling for “moderation and restraint” after the terrorist attacks.

“Conservatives saw what happened to us on 9/11 and said we will defeat our enemies. Liberals saw what happened to us and said we must understand our enemies.”

Great mate, let's knock the unions!

24.06.2005 11:30

I like this LIE vs FACT format, so here goes again:

LIE: Last 3 years the unions have given 31 million pounds to the Labour party

FACT: "The unions" have done no such thing. Only a fraction of unions are affiliated to Labour. RMT was even expelled from Labour after allowing branches to support other parties and campaigns.

To try and conflate general political campaigning (to prevent a Michael Howard government, I might add) with support for a war is mindless extremism of the most childish kind.

Who benefits from bashing trade unions? The bosses, that's who!

Get a fucking grip.

Awhile back, a U.S. citizen working in Iraq sent me several photographs he obtained from a soldier in Iraq. Apparently, they had been passed along between several sources before reaching me. I felt that the pictures were particularly controversial and newsworthy, in that they appear to show U.S. soldiers planting weapons on Iraqi teenagers. As a result, I passed them on to Seymour Hersh of the New Yorker, who mentioned them in an interview on May 11, 2005.
