G8 Geneva??ring any bells??

27.06.2005 05:14

During the g8 in geneva the cops compleatly entraped a campground outside of the city and controlled(passports and whatnot)everyone. The question do we want to enter this obvious trap and fight our way out together.Or AVOID IT COMPLEATLY. What i wonder is do we have to let them search us to get in(This would make things alot less fun)
May i suggest that if we do decide to go into this trap that we do not let them controll us on the way in(if we resist enough before the demos have evan started then they might just let it slide)

Remember we need to be, quick quick like a bunny....

If you know Nidri then you will know why the fence is there.

Nidri has its problems, its one place that suffers a lot from deprivation. Things improve but council money generally get spent else where.

Think yourselves lucky.

Not a surprise

27.06.2005 14:30

Of course they are building fences, any protest at the G8 is going to be from within a nice sterile police controlled cage. Mark my words post G8, Indymedia is going to be full of posts from people complainng about how they weren't allowed anywhere near the leaders.

We are going to see stories about protestors being kept behind fences for hours at a time, how the police met everyone from the train and "escorted" them to their holding pen, how attempts to leave the compounds were met with police violence and finaly post after post after post saying,

"Never again, we must take control next time, not going to be pushed around anymore"

Jack, what exactly is your problem with us protesting?

Of course they won't let us near the leaders. Does that mean we shouldn't turn up?

Have fun sitting at home watching TV.

you self-righteous apathist.

preposterous

29.06.2005 15:10

Those fences are absolutely preposterous!!!!!!

People had better quickly find alternative camping spots or come up with fast, creative
ways of getting rid of the prison fences.

Jack is right, the Police have the whole thing under control. I shall indeed watch it all on TV/Web/etc. and ask myself why they bother. "Yes, you may protest, but on our terms and under our control. Anyone trying to cross our boundaries will be firmly dealt with, etc., etc.... We will let the odd bunny cross the cordon but s/he will be dealt with before they get anywhere close." All allegories about how easy it is for terrorists to climb fences etc forget that the UK has the best Special Forces in the world. Tap, tap! Problem solved...

safety hazard

01.07.2005 01:34

It's a huge safety hazard! If there's some fire that goes up, people will be needlessly injured in a stampede towards the exits. Or if there is an medical emergency, all the fences will impede an ambulance from entering, or people in need of treatment from quickly exiting the area.
