i have been going to glasto for 25 years

my "friends" run half the fields and half the stages - truth is, i don't really hang out with them anymore .... we used to live together, laugh together and play music together - but i dont really understand them anymore cos they have forgotten what we were fighting for and they now think they're better than everyone else cos they're stood on a gate all weekend handing out the orders to mere mortals who have paid to be there. I know its not the whole picture but my heart is pretty broken that i used to live a life with a possee that had beliefs and strong values against a system that was ***** over the planet and dividing people up with greed and money i know glastonbury has loads of wicked shit to offer - but it has also been bought out in the conversion from being a free "unsafe" festival, which survived years and years without internal police and security, to the lovely happy £112 a ticket health and safety conscious "cabaret" it has become now...

i left there in 2002 totally disillusioned at the fence, the cattle market vibe, the infiltration from cctv and the coppers and the conformity of the place. i went strait to the burning man - sorry to say but that so called "free" festival just stinks of rich hippies and capitalist pants too - $200 to get in while the rich american hippies who pretend to care while they step over dying homeless people in the streets, drone on about burning their ego and their "oppression" at their awesome free festival. ...yeh it's an amazing place and some fantastic inspiring and creative visual structures and eye candy - an experience indeed - and woo, how awesome - it's trade all the way - why?? because the organisers have it wired that they are the only ones who are allowed to sell anything at all ??!!!!....freedom my ass - just more capitalist bullshit -

i'm not whinging - i am stating facts - i love festivals and the fact that people have somewhere to go and dance and express themselves and hang out together for a while ....

but i hate what festivals have become - what we have allowed to happen to our world - festivals are OUR culture - they were our lifestyle - now they're all high security, loadsamoney events cos the people who used to do it for love know they can now do it for money and the authorities will bite their ass if they dont obey the rules........

what is happening to the planet is happening on subtle levels thruout the whole of "society" - we are being infiltrated and our soul is being sucked dry by the system and capitalism; albeit on a subtle level - TRIBES are being killed every day to build more McDonalds joints and Coca Cola factories - every day rainforests, homes of ancient tribes, are cut down and wiped out to breed cattle so fat westerners can consume their rotten burgers and gut rotting cola.....thousands are dying from poisoned water supplies and starvation while the bigwigs just get fatter and fatter.

The rebels need to be "obliterated" and "tamed" so western society can thrive - they are a scurge, an annoyance and a threat to the takeover bid and the systems stability - they are suitably "dealt with" in various crippling ways from brainwashing, addiction, poverty, having increasingly impossible laws, fines and prison sentences imposed upon them, and an ever increasing out and out infringement upon any rights to live as a free individual, to speak your own truth and live the life you choose - "fun" is provided by the super powers, that fits snugly within the systems guidelines, and anyone who attempts to step outside the set guidelines will be publicly ostracized and dealt with - and all the time the cat is watching the mouse while the mouse is stupidly unaware - the brainwashing machine is powerful and few people even realise they have been sucked into it - democracy is a very clever tool for making you believe you have got what you want so you will conform.....

there is no easy solution and no quick fix - i dont have all the answers but i KNOW that when people stop buying into the bull ; when people wake up and open their eyes to what is really going on - when we stop the powers that be from infiltratring our lifestyle and telling us how it should be - when people rise up and become a voice again instead of allowing themselves to be shunted around like cattle - when people no longer doubt their own voice and can change things by simply believing in themselves, by being passionate and having a vision of truth and a strength of spirit that our ancestors always carried in their hearts - then we might stand a chance of reclaiming our freedom, saving ourselves, our dignity and our planet.
