Gutless soap dodgers

Good video. Unfortunately, it picked up a load of drunks and other pondlife who are not representative of the majority of Edinburgh folk, or Scots in general. These "wasters" had no political agenda or considered view, but were quite content to shout abuse then run away like daft wee lassies when the cops turned to look at them. They totally undermine the value of any demonstration.

Bet the police are quaking in their riot gear

I almost can't believe what I'm seeing here - a jakey waving on the police and a bunch of neds having a go. If you believe this is spontaneous public reaction from your average Edinburgh resident then you're delusional.

Any other day of the year and these guys would give you a good hiding for looking a wee bit different. There is no solidarity there - just an eagerness to kick off. Open your eyes.

drunks not welcome here either

Do you really think these drunken idiots, who contribute nothing to anything, have a right to claim Edinburgh as "their town". They are opportunists who saw the earlier violence on tv and rushed to the city centre for an chance to take on the police.

It's interesting how the video shows the police retreating peacefully from the drunks, before being physically attacked when their backs were turned.

locals and demonstrators

When people want to have a go at the police, you can bet there is some political motivation behind it. No it doesn't undermine the protest, ad hominem attacks against people you don't know undermines your argument. If anything, the more opposition to the G8 from all sectors and facets of society, the more successful a protest is. Cheers to all the "jakeys" and "neds" out there who have the grit to take on the foes some protesters could never save up the courage to do.

Attacks against the police don't count as "attacks against people you don't know", I suppose.

Ho Hum

Neds, Jakeys, and footie casuals do not make up the normal, working, unemployed population of this city. As someone has already said they are not interested in the greater good, the workers, the oppressed. They are selfish, self centred, and simply looking for an excuse to kick off. It's not guts, if it was they would have stood up in the front lines when it really kicked off. But you wouldn't see them there, they'd be happy to wait and kick three shades of shit out of any clown/black clad punter just so they could brag to their mates.

Sorry, I wish it was the 'real' general populace of edinburgh who were kicking off against the storm troopers but it wasn't. :(

The faces of revolution

Get real Yarg. Political motivation suggests a thought process. Throwing things at the backs of cops who are already leaving, thus encouraging them to return, while some fat ugly bird shouts the usual football mantra of "scum, scum, scum" from behind a row of kids and photographers, is hardly the stuff of confrontation or bravery. Which of these groups would you like as the "face" of the protest ? ... would it be the snot-nosed kid with the kerbstone, the jakey who could hardly string two words together, or the neds with the inbred look who smelled of 60 fags a day, stale sweat and piss (you really needed to be there!)? Feel free to choose and take some of them home with you for a day! By the way .... these are the same individuals who would kick fifteen bells out of you for appearing to have any form of alternative lifestyle.

How obvious it is that all of the comments are by the same person!!!!!

In case you didn't know Indymedia is stalked by "trolls" making comments like this - which is all part of the territory - but they should try to make it less obvious!
