stay strong in opposing g8 in spite of bombs

stay strong

Message of solidarity and request to g8 protesters!

I just want to send my deepest support and solidarity for the actions that you are all taking against the g8.

I am also writing to request that you do not stray from your stance and actions against the g8 in light of the bombs in London.

We do not know (and history shows that we will probably never know) exactly what has happened in London. We don’t know who coordinated the attacks or why. And whilst these explosions have certainly wounded, unsettled and deeply hurt many many people, they should not deter you from your critique on the g8 nor the agendas at play at the Gleneagles meeting.

It is all too easy to get caught up in the drama of these events. My concern may seem patronizing, but I remember when the protests planned against the WEF in Washington after September 11th in New York were cancelled out of “respect” for those who were affected by the attacks.

I just want to argue that you should stand strong and continue your campaign against the g8 for it is the same struggle against “terror” and the rule of violence the world over.

Go hard!

Oh Good Grief

Hold strong! Be vigiliant! And remember that the Police will now be expecting bombers and that if you try anything too mental they'll maybe play safe and shoot you.

Aye dear, easy to egg people on from the comfort of your wee Aussie armchair

As usual

07.07.2005 14:43

It's sickening to see that the de-humanized elements of global resists encouraging people to take advantage of suffering and death. Aren't you guys meant to be challenging this sort of thing??

Because of the G8.

07.07.2005 14:57

Our masters have admitted that the bomb attack was timed to coincide with the start of the G8. No G8, no attack. This makes anarchist so-called 'violence' look like a toddlers tea-party.

Doug.

Peaceful protest

07.07.2005 15:11

I agree that it seems disconnected. They took advantage of the lack of metropolitan police. It was designed to hurt ordinary people, the ones concerned about carbon emmisions would have been using public transport.
The G8 leaders were well out of the way, at the other end of the island.

The global legalised terrorism of rich nations and corporations is still wrong. We are protesting against ALL war, all atrocities, all poverty, all injustice.

Taking life is wrong whoever does it, life is sacred.

London Bombings are Politically Useful to the Government

07.07.2005 15:24

The timing of these bombings at the time of the G-8 meetings and the anti-capitalist protests there are politically useful to the government to intimidate and shut down these protests on the basis of "anti-terrorism."

This oh-so-convenient timing is purely coincidental of course.

G8 not been cancelled

07.07.2005 15:24

The G8 leaders have not cancelled any meetings because of the bombings neither should the demonstrators feel they should have to cancel anything. Is that simple enough for you?

London bombs, Blair's fault

07.07.2005 15:33

Bob

I and my family WILL be continuing to resist the terrorists of whatever sort, both those within and without the fence at Gleneagles. If, like us, you feel moved to go to Auchterarder on Friday, you'll see us protesting about today's attrocities amongst many other things. Blair is as much to blame for today's bombs as those that planted them.

can we get a

07.07.2005 15:51

So we've moved quick to affirm our commitments, like the Blairs who have moved even faster.

Yet not a word of sorrow. Just claims that we'll never know what happened, as if this is some sort of hoax being put on by the governments themselves. People are dead. Where is my sympathy?

And why should sympathy for the dead equate with weakness for the cause? It does not matter who or why the explosions tore through them, people are dead. Just as I wish that Bush could have spent more than a blink mourning during September 11th, I have the same hopes for myself, that death means something, and that I consider other human lives beyond the politics I advance.

Why express sorrow?

07.07.2005 16:45

We all know about this, and we all mourn for the dead. We all share that. We need not express our sorrow to others when they already feel their sorrow in themselves. Until we know who died, and who was injured, it remains anonymous, so we all share the same fears and the same uncertainties. Once we know who died, most of us will know they they didn't lose anyone they knew - and others will know they did lose someone they knew - and those of us who didn't ought to help those of us who did.

We ought to beware 'expressions' from politicians. Until we know who died, we all share the same fear. Which means there is no justified reason for 'expressing sorrow' but there is an easy way to lull people by 'expressing sorrow.' What needed to be done still needs to be done. We ought to save the world, and stop the killing.

War is the state and the state is war.

They got another city bombed

07.07.2005 17:42

How about "Now you motherfuckers went out and got us bombed!" as one of the themes for the protests.
