The IndyMedia UK guidelines are pretty clear on this - such content should be hidden. It's there very clearly in plain language, a strong statement:

But look at many indymedia websites and you will find similar content being posted to the open newswires - that's one of the drawbacks to such an open system allowing anyone to post.

It's also one way people who wish to rubbish indymedia - to try and damage it - use to try and discredit it. - ie posting racist crap.

I don't think you can have looked very closely at the newswire, because if you had you would have noticed that people who contribute to indymedia do refute and argue against racist crap and often when it's pointed out will hide it according to the clear guidelines. Sure indymedia is a voluntary participative project and no one here is paid to work 9-5 on it, and that means that sometimes instances of such racist rubbish are missed. That's why people are often asked to email IndyMedia if they see such content.

Anyway, I'm not sure what you mean by "As an american" - if you look at the US indymedia websites you'll see similar issues. In fact look at most indymedia websites and you'll see similar.

Yeah it's a pain in the ass, but people put a lot of time and effort trying to hide that crap.

Neither of the positions above is generalising Jews. There is a massive difference between hating Jews and hating human rights abuses.

What I HAVE seen are a few recent posts that seem to deliberately wish to rubbish any notion of Palestine having any reasonable greivances against Israel. which is fair enough for people to argue... so long as they don't mind the inevtiable onslaught of incredulity they are predictably going to illicit in this venue. But do us all a favour. Don't post this stuff and start asking for censorship when people tear it up and throw it back at you.
