The Hidden Agenda
The Hidden Agenda

Seems to us:

1. There are some hefty weapons
2. Some clever disguises [not]
3. Shots exchanged policemen killed
4. Some Prison
5. A Prison bust by 10 tanks, 4 helicopters and much shit heading dangerously close to the fan
6. Spin
7. More Spin
8. Incredible, mindnumbing amounts of Spin
9. Stories differing
10. Pissed off Iraqi Police
11. Lots of on the scene reporting photographing and interviews
12. Denial, desperate face saving denial

Hardly damning...

As much as I would have liked it to be otherwise and as much as I would have prefered to hear that these two services men had been linched and hung by the angry locals.... these photos don't show anything that proves or even suggests that these two were planting roadside bombs to blame on insurgents.

Strange as it might seem to some but soldiers in a war zone are quite likely to be armed - the machine gun, and other heavy weaponary is just the kind of thing your avergae rambo would want to be keeping on hand in the back of their car, along with car jack, jump leads etc.

Likewise, radio equipement is kinda essential don't you think? Every journalist would have the same stuff to hand, every NGO aid worker likewise.

And as for the disguisses... I think it fair to say that those white males of western apperance travelling around without a convoy for protection mighty also consider avoiding looking blatently like the occupier while travelling around in areas in which a couple of lone soldiers would (quite rightly) attract trouble.

I think we can forget the whole, not wearing uniform means you are a spy, thing as well. Remember, while Iraq is a war zone, technically the war is over as Saddams government nolonger exists and an 'interim' government (effectively the USA) is 'onside' with the occupiers.

When I heard the two had been caught with mines or explosives I laughed - please they'd been caught red handed. However, those photos don't show shit.

Had these two men been Iraqis we would have seen Blair and Bush screaming TERRORISTS TERRORISTS. So why is there this difference, if a white man carries weapons in civilan clothes then it proofs nothing but if a "arab" looking man just "looks" strange he might be a terrorist threat. These two men should have been sent to an Iraqi court. They are suspected terrorists.

Not smashing the police station and setting them free, this is an outrage and should be strongly condemned and have serious consequences for the UK forces in Iraq.

They were up to no good, that is for sure!

N, I do agree that from the pic there might be no evidence that they were planting roadside bombs, and it does look like a seemingly standard equipment for some SAS shit. However, the fact that they were armed and undercover means that they were up to no good whatsoever. Assassination? Recon? In any case their actions would surely get some people killed so in the end does it matter if they were planting a bomb or just giving co-ordinates to a "surgical" air strike. The method hardly matters when people end up getting killed. Let's face it: there is no difference between terrorism and war. They are the same. Terrorism as we know it is just what the powerful like to call war (legitimate or not) that poor, powerless and people of different colour than pink are engaged in.

One law for us and another for them

Jean Charles de Menezes was executed in cold-blood for mistakenly being a SUSPECTED terrorist, when he wasn't carrying shit or even a Muslim. These SAS guys were caught dressed as the Medhi Army with EXPLOSIVES and DETONATORS and got rescued by ten Warrior tanks when the "suicide bombing" was rumbled, a bombing like the one which killed 140 innocent people in Iraq last Wednesday, three times more than the special forces operation in London on 7/7.
