The Best of all possible Worlds

Great Britain 2050.
We Europeans now live in the best of all possible worlds.
Our Supermarkets are full of good cheap food from all corners of the world.
We drive around in our gas-guzzlers like Roman Emperors.
Half of the Third World wants to come and work for us for nothing.
We are an affluent and pampered society.
This is the best of all possible times.
NOT.
Our plumbing (The Gulf Stream) is about to break down big time.
Harsh winters and arid climes are about to descend on us.
In 20 years time our supermarkets will look like Soviet food shops did in the old days.
Our gas-guzzlers will be no more than scrap dead metal.
To eat you will need a field and the strength and knowledge to work and defend it.
To travel you will need a boat and some navigational skills.
In our mud huts there will be no electricity.
The grime of the Middle Ages will return.
We shall be back to the survival of the fittest.
I’m getting the shivers, already.
Well, I’d better dash and see how I’m fixed for a nice long lunch with, perhaps some Chateau Margaux (’82).
