Simon Hughes - Blair's chosen one?

Copernicus | 13.01.2006 14:48 | Analysis

Simon Hughes is one of the very few Liberal Democrat MPs not to vote for a public enquiry into the Iraq war. Could this be the reason Blair was kind to him and destructive to Ming on Wednesday?

When William Hogg tabled his motion:

"That this House believes that there should be a select committee of seven honourable Members, being members of Her Majesty's Privy Council, to review the way in which the responsibilities of Government were discharged in relation to Iraq and all matters relevant thereto, in the period leading up to military action in that country in March 2003 and in its aftermath."

 http://edmi.parliament.uk/EDMi/EDMDetails.aspx?EDMID=29437&SESSION=875

many liberal democrat MPs rushed to sign it, along with a smaller number of lab, con, and smaller parties. The number who have signewd at present stands at 114, including 51 lib dem. Menzies Campbell's signature is among them, but Simon Hughes has NOT signed.

If Hughes wants NOT to be "The Blair candidate" for liberal democrat leadership, he should sign the petition. If he doesn't, WE KNOW WHERE HE STANDS!

Political spectrum of the Lib Dems.

Simon Hughes is on the left of the Lib Dems. Ming Campbell is reportedly in the centre and Mark Oaten is on the right. I don't know the other candidate.

I don't know why Simon Hughes hasn't signed for this campaign, but I would still favour him as leader of the Lib Dems over the other options.

Blair's game

13.01.2006 18:27

As we roll towards Blair's genocide of Iran, as inevitable as Hitler's war with Russia, we can expect many acts of reorganisation within the obvious and less obvious political structures in the UK. Kennedy has obviously served his sentence, but as people focus on his confessions of being a drunken sot, few focus on exactly WHY his drinking peaked at certain times. The answer is simple. Kennedy has been doing Blair's explicit bidding for the longest time, with the inevitable consequences on his conscience. Kennedy has not been a willing New Reicher, but regardless, his actions in the service of Blair have been paramount in ensuring Blair's success in his recent murderous activities in Iraq etc.

Understand this- if the Liberal Party was what it seemed, and had an honest leader, the Liberals would be in power today. Blair rules this country with his iron fist backed by just 2 in 10 votes, and Mr Israel managed to prevent the Conservative party from gaining any increase in support between the recent election, and the one before (which was the whole point of his leadership period).

Menzies Campbell is Blair's handler for the Liberal Party, so you can understand the purpose of the article above. Traditionally, it is considered MUCH safer to have a puppet figurehead publically front an organisation, and to have his controllers somewhat less visible (as is seen with the 'idiot son' George Bush, and one of the real powers behind the throne, Cheney). Of course, Blair is discovering that the pressure he needs to exert to make possible his genocide of Iran is greater than he imagined, so that a change of rules with respect to the Liberals may prove significant.

Even if we 'win the lottery' and rogue circumstances find an honest leader for the Liberals, do not think to celebrate, for if there is ANY danger that this individual could make a difference, he will have a road accident, heart-attack, or be found will inappropriate material on his computer before you can say 'New Reich'.

Anyway, it doesn't really matter, for the Liberal Party was totally ruined years ago when it was targetted for destruction after showing a clear potential for challenging the dominance of the New Reich and Conservative parties. The success of this targetting is shown in the fact that changing our voting system is now a non-issue, which is precisely why Blair can be more powerful today than at any time in his past on just 2 in 10 votes.

The reality is that we will all see the so-called leadership of the Liberals and Conservatives, along with the France and Germany, applaud Blair's preparation for his coming genocide attack on Iran. Isn't it time to confront the truth, and understand that if we are to be saved, we have to save ourselves?

Libdems could still surprise...

13.01.2006 19:17

I've met Simon Hughes. He was OK apart from his handshake. But if he cares about democracy he really SHOULD sign that EDM.

This isn't usually the case, twilight, but Labour is indeed proving to be the New Reich. I agree with much of what you say here.
