'Dune' is selling rabbit fur boots!

The Southern Animal Rights Coalition (SARC) has been in contact with Dune's Head Office over the last few days in an attempt to educate them about the fur trade and negotiate a fur free policy. Despite the fact the woman (who refuses to give her name) claims to be a vegetarian she cannot see anything wrong with the fur trade. The staff seem to be under the illusion that its fine to skin animals alive because those animals are "a byproduct of the meat industry" - interesting myth, since meat rabbits are killed at 6-7 weeks in comparison to fur rabbits, which are killed at 6-8 months.

This is where you come in...

Dune tell us they have never received complaints about selling fur in the past, and claim they have received nothing but praise about their fur. We need compassionate members of the public like yourselves to register your complaint with Dune's head office as well as individual stores. We are asking Dune to make a fur free policy.

I am writing to complain about the sale of fur. You are selling boots made from rabbit fur which is totally cruel and barbaric. Rabbits are kept in wire mesh battery cages and undercover investigations have shown them being skinned alive for their fur. I am asking everyone to boycott your store until you take a fur free pledge.

"Hi, I'm calling to complain about the sale of fur in your stores and to ask you to make a fur free policy. I don't know if you are aware but animals are skinned alive for their fur which I find totally barbaric when there are lots of synthetic alternatives available on the market"

"I'm calling to inform you about the torture fur trade. Rabbits are kept in filty bare mesh cages and are kept in intensive conditions. Fur farming is banned in this country because its so cruel and you are importing fur which would be illegal to farm here in the UK. Please go fur free!"

"I'm phoning you to educate you about the fur trade. You wrongly insist your fur is a by-product of the meat industry. Meat rabbits are slaughtered at 8-10 weeks old but fur rabbits are slaughtered when they are 6-7 months old. The fur from a rabbit slaughtered at 8-10 weeks old would not be deemed high enough quality to sell as fur. You have been mislead to think your fur is a by-product and I hope now that you realise this you will make a fur free pledge"
