This Saturday, April 1st, April Fool's Day, will be a day of celebration whereby the mighty shall be brought LOW and all those who are low, nay, UNDERGROUND shall be brought HIGH and Crowned Weirdos of Misrule!

In Honour of this Foolishness as Big Ben shall strike Twelve a Procession of FOOLS shall go forth from London Eye on to Parliament Square where those brought LOW shall be chased and ridiculed by those brought HIGH.

There will be a meeting of Fairies at 2pm at the Eros Statue, Piccadilly.

Misleading people is wrong!!!

To even include such drivel on this website is insulting. This so called 'action' is based on incorrect information.

The flyers that are being handed out promoting this event states that protests around parliament are now illegal, when in fact to protest all that is required is that at least 24 hours notice is provided to police for the demonstration to be authorised.

This is for a number of reasons. This includes that events can be properly organised; for example if ten groups decide they all want to protest at the same time there may be conflicts of interest where it may be beneficial for police to be present. Although the large majority of protests are peaceful there are and probably always will be protests including violence and disruption. Also, if the demonstration is large then it may require some road closures etc, most safely carried out by the police. Unfortunately for all those that are not the polices biggest fans they can be required when demonstrations take place for a number of reasons, and they do still have to respond to emergencys. If impromptu demonstrations do take place this may take valuable resources away that would otherwise be responding to people in times of need. Taking this into account why is it such a major issue that you would have to let the police know you want to protest.

If this information is going to be handed to people without knowledge of the legislation then surely should not all the facts be passed on.

Jon your comment is incorrect - you need six working days to organise a protest under the SOCPA.
