IMC at London's Mayday and More Demo Pics.

maquipix | 03.05.2006 18:34 | Mayday 2006 | Globalisation | Indymedia | Social Struggles | London

Indymedia was present in the streets of London on MayDay by joining the Autonomous Bloc during the main demonstration. Later in the afternoon, Indymedia London activists set up a Public Access Point at the Square Social Centre, so people coming back from the different events that took place during the day could upload their own reports, pics and videos straight into the Indymedia websites.

That's not Neil Williams (Suspect U -  http://publish.indymedia.org.uk/en/2005/09/323405.html), he was on the ground.

Sorry I meant the guy on the right, in the IMC photo. It depends when the IMC photo was taken or they might be genetically reproducing the FIT team

Sorry to gripe but just wondering why it takes 2 days for these pics to appear. Would you buy a newpaper that is 2 days old? Journalism involves getting the news out in a reasonable period of time. Also really bad idea including 2 bottles of cider in a photo supposedly of a work area. There is a hell of a stigma attached to that stuff and cynics may assume you are park bench piss heads.

If you think you can do it better Mr observant , why don't you do it yourself next time? .. instead of nagging useless points.

The pics took one and a half days to appear (the same as many other reports about worldwide mayday events, by the way) because people have lives and other commitments apart from publishing in imc. This is a volunteer run project, which should not be seen in terms of professionalism as defined by corporate media. If you don't understand this I wonder why you bother to check imc anyway. If what you want is fast 'news', then you are better off buying the Evening Standart mate, it comes out twice a day! ... although it is mostly crap. Your choice anyway.

And yup, before you ask again, I would read a two day old paper, or magazine (I often do), or watch a 20 year old video, or listen to a last year's radio programme. If you wouldn't you could probably be missing quite a bit actually.

What would you have actually gained by seeing this pics some 48 hours earlier? Don't you see? This is the corporate media's set up ... produce 'news' fast, so that they can be consumed whilst cramped on a train or bus. Well, Indymedia is a completely different ball game altogether.

As for the stigmas and assumptions you mention, .. well there are so many things in life that carry these, that it is akmost redundant to bother too much about them. Peple are free to assume whatever they want, but quite often assumptions don't match reality at all as you probably know, or should know anyway.

By the way, I wonder what the stigma attached to an orange jucie bottle that can also be seen in te previous pic may be? I could make as many assuptions as I wonted really. But would this be worth a comment in imc?!
