….And People Say Scousers Are Thieving Bastards

New Home Secretary John Reid Visits Liverpool: Hurray. News on police and kettles.

Reid on the cost of policing

It cost £360k for the policing of Condoleezza Rice’s visit to Merseyside. It was Jack Straw that invited her, but the people of Liverpool who paid.

Dr Reid, who was visiting Liverpool as part of his new job of keeping brown people out of the country, said yesterday:

"I wouldn't want people to forget that Condoleezza Rice coming here was a huge boost to the area. I think it is a huge accolade for Liverpool that such a highly prominent international person would come here. It is a mark of the high vibrancy of this area. "

But the people of Liverpool didn’t invite her. Dr Reid seems to have forgotten that, in actuality, thousands lined the streets and followed her entire visit denouncing her for the war criminal that she is. Local performers refused to entertain her and even LIPA students stopped singing. LIPA students stopped singing: IT WAS BIG.

"When high-profile people come, they have to be protected against things such as terrorism, and I am sure the people of this area would not have wanted any disasters happening during her visit.”

I think that if the Hope Street Hotel got bombed then it’s guests (who pay up to 350 quid a night) would not have been a major loss to the world.

I’m still in shock: 360 grand.

!Think what we could have done with the money!

!!Think of all those extra Capital of Culture experts we could have hired!!

Reid on the new CJC Court’s Brilliant use of Money: Kettle Insight

Dr Reid was actually in Liverpool to visit the Community Justice Centre in Kirkdale. It is supposed to be a ‘people’s court’. However, this undercover Indymedia journalist worked there for a while and can report that this former school is carpeted in designer CJC logo carpet (150 per sq metere) and has a wonderful kettle which cost, and this is true, 4000 pounds.

Basically it is an installed hot water system which means that you don’t have to wait for the kettle to boil when you want a cuppa. You just press on button for instant boiling water and another one for instant cold water. This Indymedia journalist thought that this device was the highlight of his morning, until he found out how much it cost. "4000 grand: I'm on 6.20 an hour the fuckers," was his response at the time.

However since the court opened last year crime in North Liverpool has completely ended and all of the criminals now spend their time planting flowers and building play parks for the local children.

Conclusion: we need more kettles and less visits from Condoleezza Rice.
