Abandonment

Marcos Loures | 08.07.2006 00:31 | Free Spaces | World

On the encounter among the abandonments, truthful history.

There was in the small city in Espírito Saint south, inside Brazil, one of those common folkloric illustrations inside the country.
Demented, walked through the streets, without home or constant shelter, adopted and abandoned for all. An almost beggar, an almost citizen, actually, almost people.
In the cold city, in the coldest nights, it was sometimes collected by the Asylum, but it didn't support the confinement and he fled, he always fled, returning to the streets.
For the characteristic it lacks of all the teeth, it won the nickname of "Without Keyboard."
He didn't do badly to anybody, it was never known about to have attacked to who wants him to go inconveniencing more for the bad smell and for the aspect of the hygiene lack than for attitudes.
With certainty it was less malicious than most of our politicians, and much less than certain people of the ruling elites of several places of that country.
To drink; he drank, but it was rare to find him drunk.
Of one time for here, he had given of looking for shelter in the Emergency of the city.
Depending on whom it was of duty, his presence was supported.
Many of the times, he/she found a bed, some remains of food and cover.
Dog without owner gets used to caress, even if is only supporting his presence. That era the case. He had begun to go, almost that daily, to the Emergency in search of the bed, of the heat and of the food.
One day, calm duty, cold night, everything elapsing calmly.
But, for fright of all, it was heard a groan, in the distance.
The groan increased of intensity, leaving the nurses and the duty doctor suddenly.
Thinking that it went some patient with pain or tends his worsened health condition, the duty nurse, decided to go to the Hospital, enclosure to the Emergency..
Nothing, there was not anybody moaning.
There, one of the employees of the Hospital remembered the beds of the emergency, moved away of the place where they slept all.
The rain falling, and the serious patients' absence, had left all calm ones.
There were only two patient in the rest, a drunk mendicant that always exaggerated in the ingestion of alcohol and the "Without Keyboard."
Suddenly, it was heard the employee's strident voice that, to the cries he got the attention of all on what was happening.
In a love action, of compassion or of savage attraction, Without Keyboard and the old drunk, interlaced if they loved on the disarranged bed.
The employee, as if it was, on that moment, attending an action simply animal, didn't blink.
The water cold play on the couple, moved away them, abandoned dogs for the life, curs without whereabouts, without shelter and without direction.
The rain cried for the two, abandoned for all, expelled and played in the street, on that night incredibly cold of the small city.
The employee without thinking in what spoke, he repeated the all the moment;
"- It goes that that procreates"...
