highlight for me was bill patterson reading harold pinter poems - very powerful, and not your usual nice and cosy speeches telling you to write letters to your mp

lots of luminaries making speeches of varying efficacy. a bit of aggressive flag-burning and tearing after (missing the point?), and some moments of laughter, sadness, sharing, hope, understanding, and solidarity.

DISRUPT or don't even bloody bother

31.07.2006 00:12

Until you lock-on, occupy or blockade during these mass actions, your energy is wasted, you will feel crippled and fucked (physically and emotionally) whilst these war mongering bastards (Bliar & co) sip tea under chandeliers plotting the next "strike" 'regardless of your orderly march.

Until the day you all take direct action and confront these ruthless fucking bastard scum full-on .. please do wave your posters, clap and listen to your speakers before going home .. do remember to walk back to your lifts in an orderly line. I'm sure you know this.

Meanwhile, watch the war on tv? Why not?

WTF? ... Hello ... DEATH?!! ... Big Time!!!

So let's plan some disruption then...

Please distribute this callout!

// EMERGENCY ASSEMBLY CALLED TO PLAN DIRECT ACTION AGAINST ISREALI INVASIONOF LEBANON AND PALESTINE! (AND THE CONTINUED OCCUPATION OF IRAQ)

// TUESDAY 1ST AUGUST

// ROOM, H216, CONNAUGHT HOUSE, LONDON SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS

It has become clear that there is an overwhelming desire and need to do more than passively protest the massacre happening in Lebanon and Palestine. Currently over 400 Lebanese have been killed while the governments and populations of the world watch. At the same time the media is speaking about balance, to try to fool us into their 'neutral' coverage. The systems of power are attempting to silence any form of unconventional dissent. Once again, demonstrations have been called in which people march along proscribed routes and listen to planned, boring speeches. We've seen this play before with the run up to the Iraq war. We now know that these passive demonstrations alone are not sufficient to halt the war machine.

To combat this, we are putting a call-out for an emergency assembly to plan direct action against the Isreali invasion of Lebanon and Palestine. The assembly will take place on Tuesday, 1st of August at 6pm.

Venue: room H216, on the second floor of Connaught House, London School of Economics. Connaught House is on Aldwych; for a map and directions see

Hezbollah is hiding in civilian areas that is why there are so many deaths!

31.07.2006 09:08

The reason that there are so many civilian deaths in Lebanon is because Hezbollah is deliberatly hiding in densely built up areas and using the Lebanonese population as human shields. Hundreds of Israeli civilians have also been victims of Hezbollah rockets attacks which are not as well reported.

Hezbollah is to blame for civilian deaths

israel kills kids as a matter of policy

01.08.2006 08:17

I see the anonymous comment above states that is hizbollahs fault that civilians get killed because they launch their rockets from built up areas, which is beginning to look like not the case, it's bloody hard to fire a rocket when surrounded by buildings, much easier in an olive grove or a bit of open ground. It would not make any difference to the israelis anyway they would still bomb buildings with women and children in them The israeli military have been killing kids for years now, they can't all be mistakes! Remember those horrifing picture of the poor little boy and his dad hiding in door way only to be shot by a sniper. The little girl gunned down at the check point then "finished off" by the murdering piece of shit idf officer who said he would have killed her even if she had been a three year old, the kids who get shot for throwing stones at tanks, the list goes on and on. I bet if you counted up all those killed by the israelis an huge proportion of them would be children. The dragged out appology from the israeli prime minister and others are bollocks, the israelis do it deliberetly to terrorise.
